Geez!!! blink.gif

I think I had a -11.nn once, but man, that tops all I've seen! (I'm assuming you were set to 89.0 dB, as per normal?)

I feel sorry for all the people blindly ripping and encoding that thing with no knowledge of gain adjustment. They'll blow up their speakers (and their ears) with that kind of album!
PoisonDan
That album was also mentioned in the thread about Zwan. There are also some other loud albums discussed in that thead.
Jebus
Oh geez, and that Zwan thing was my thread too... missed that post.

Damn... well, I think to be honest it adds to the album's charm. Sounds so damn awful it's gotta be "hard core," right?

p.s. Yes ScorLibran, this is at 89.0dB.

The album is brilliant though.

Jebus: Could you post a clip of a "typical" passage? I'm curious how this kind of stuff sounds...

That second-to-last track must be "shake appeal" with the insanely loud guitar lead. It always used to get people's attention when I listened to that on the school bus back in '83... even though I had headphones on.

And for the other end of the spectrum... (I hope Billy Corgan is reading this)

Creedence Clearwater Revival ~ Chronicle (1976) (A 1991 re-print, but not a re-master, obviously)

well, strictly speaking, since it wasn't a CD master in the first place wouldn't this technically qualify as a remastered album? Remastering doesn't have to mean badly remastered. And it was 1991 after all.

Good point. smile.gif

I think whoever remastered this album should write a manual for how to properly set the master volume during mixdown (if that's wherein the problem lies) to get as close to the 89.0 dB reference as possible, thus allowing plenty of dynamic headroom when using digital recording media.

I got news for Corgan...any of his Pumpkins/Zwan albums won't be ANY LOUDER than this CCR album when I play them, but they will have a smaller dynamic range thanks to the compression model he uses. *tsk tsk*...shame on Billy.
