I plan to use eac/lame and then move it to my mac for listening. Is there anyway so that the finished mp3s will have id tags without my having to type all of them in. That's one thing that's nice about itunes, it does it for you. But lame makes better files. How can I do this?

i use MP3Ext, not entirely effortless, but hella easier if you're doing whole albums at a time...

EAC can do this. It has a FreeDB connection, and in one of the option windows you can set ID3 settings. No need for extra software imho.

Only downside is an occasional spelling error. Easily corrected from within EAC before encoding, though.

The other thing I've noticed with this is info formatting - Title, Artist, etc. Sometimes I rearrange to my liking. Again, easily accomplished in EAC.

I've trried CDDB with EAC. But when I make the .wav into an mp3 via LAME, the mp3 doesn't have a tag. Is there anyway to transfer the CDDB tag into the ID3 tag?

It only works if you call the Lame encoder from within EAC.
In EAC, go to File -> Compression Options. There you can set it to invoke Lame, and add ID3 tags.

If you rip to wav, and then feed them manually to the encoder, there's no way to transfer the tags: EAC doesn't tag the wavs.

This is automatic if you're encoding from within EAC.
