One of my Linux-only friends wants to start encoding with the standard LAME Compiled with Dibrom's switches at APS. First though he needs to know what switches Dibrom compiles with? If they are posted somewhere just point me to them.

He'd have a hard time converting ICL/MSVC++ switches to GCC ones. smile.gif

If it's of any use to your friend, the note regarding Dibrom's switches is here: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/jfe1205/Dibro...romsCompile.txt wink.gif

It might sound a bit screwed up, but if you're friend is concerned enough about getting the switches that I used right, he'd be much better off using an existing ICL compile via WINE and just wrapping it up with a script. There are no real equivalent compile options with GCC, and the output from this compiler will differ enough from ICL that the whole point of trying to get that precision (in switch matching) is moot anyway.

Personally I have done this when using Linux, and it works fine. IIRC, the ICL compiles run faster even under Wine than the GCC compiles too.

One could try ICL under Linux I suppose, but I have no experience with that.

OK, thanks for the info Dibrom, I'll pass that along to my friend.
