Currently Xbox Media Player supports playback of Ogg Vorbis quite fully with the exception that playback of internet (radio) streams* are not opened correctly and thus do not play back. The reason I am posting this here, is to request the assistance of anyone who might be able to help in making XBMPs code handle such a situation better.

On the official XBMP forum, I have opened a thread regarding all this trying to explain the situation and why I think it should be fixed. Nothing has happened so far, I suspect perhaps because the XBMP developers have enough on their plate as it is. The link is http://www.xboxmediaplayer.de/cgi-bin/ib31...t=ST;f=8;t=4160

Should you know programming on the Xbox using XDK, and if you own and use VS.net 2003, you might be interested in helping out. In such a case the link to the daily CVS snapshot is http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cvstarballs/xbp...-cvsroot.tar.gz

and as you might guess from the snapshot URL, the project page is http://www.sf.net/projects/xbplayer

* as served by icecast for example. Icecast is btw working for mp3 streams.

BTW it appears XBMP might receive cd ripping reencoding support for oggenc and possibly MPC in addition to mp3 support (LAME). THe link is http://www.xboxmediaplayer.de/cgi-bin/ib31...1/ikonboard.cgi? s=24255130b738bfd9f518ac6241858cda;act=ST;f=3;t=4003;hl=vorbis;st=150
