The audio CD writer implementation is nifty (though I have not used it yet).
I do have one question or two about using it.
Assuming that I want to burn my mpcs such that I can fit as many as possible on a 700 MB CD, is there a feature in the plugin that will tell me if I have overshot the capacity in my selection of songs, or is the onus on me to make sure that I have not chosen too many songs?
The Link
After having selected the tracks you want to burn just have a look at the total time (right corner at the bottom if enabled): If itīs under 80 minutes itīll fit on a 700MB disc.
sld
Would this be feasible?
80 minutes of wave files take up a lot more space than 80 minutes of 80 kbps vorbis files smile.gif.
Of course, if this rule is excellent for use with musepack at -standard, I'll be using it a lot.
DotNoir
Hmmm... This feature is Audio CD writer, so it burns audio cds... Not the files as they are on your hd... So, looking at the total time is what you have to do. (it would be a data cd, if you burned those mpcs in it, btw)
sld
Oh.
And I was quite hopeful there sad.gif .

Would I be off-topic if I asked where I can obtain the mpc plugin for Nero?
Please PM me if you think there's no need to post in this thread.

If you are planning to write the files with foobar's audio cd writer, you don't need the mpc plugin for nero, as foobar converts the files to wav before burning them.

Well I was looking to burn mpcs directly onto a CD.
Nevermind, thanks guys for helping smile.gif.

MPC files onto data CD -> requires no plug-in
MPC files decoded onto audio CD -> requires MPC plug-in if you're using Nero alone, requires no special Nero plug-ins if you're using Foobar2000
MPC files' raw stream data into audio tracks -> retarded idea; the thought occurred to me that you actually intended to do this. Please do not confirm this one.

Trust your instinct, I am going to confirm it.
Why would it not be advisable, or retarded?

Do they do the same for mp3 and wma CDs? (I do think I am beginning to sound retarded, but nevermind)
Yeah, help me clear up my ideas please biggrin.gif.

Almost as much of a shock as one of my best friends telling me today that he is going to marry a girl he has been seeing for a month huh.gif

They're both mad.

Look into the mode2 XCD tools. They let you burn any kind of file you want in mode2, aka no error correction, onto a cd, 80 min cd ~ 800mb, the way vcd/svcd's are burned. But unless your file format has error correction/detection built in, you will almost positively have glitches trying to read/play them. I've only ever messed with this once, but it worked for the ogm filed I tried it with, no clue on how well it will work for mpc.

If you can't humour a newbie and answer my post with regards to understanding how burning an mp3 CD works (whether data CD, or raw audio stream), then please don't post at all. Don't post with your eyes wide shut.

Well, it seems the later part of this thread is off-topic. I'll ask in CD Hardware/Software.

If you just want to burn the mpcs onto cd, no need for any plugins, just open up nero , select 700mb worth of files, and drag the mpc files onto a new data cd window. Any type of plugins you use will convert the files to wav and then burn audio cds that you can listen to in your cd player... If you just want a cd full of mp3/mpc files to play in your computer just burn the files to cd. If you have an "mp3 cd player" it should also be able to play the mp3s off of those cds.
kode54
MP3/WMA CDs are regular data CDs.

Nothing supports raw mode2 MP3 or WMA CDs, at least no dedicated hardware players that I know of.

There are no MPC CD players.
sld
Thanks zanson and kode54, I guess I was confused by the 'special' options for burning mp3 and wma CDs in Nero (Nero Express, really). So it's that easy after all.

Edit: Yeah, I know there are no portable mpc players sad.gif. Will have to transcode to mp3.
