In no paticular order.

1. Direct streaming to disk - whilst playing too.
2. Ability to play incomplete/open files.
3. Option to remove the 'Component' dropdown in the main window - I dont have any components installed...
4. Changing the system tray icon should also change the icon in the top left corner of the main window and task tray?
5. C64 SID support.
6. A video playback component at some stage.
7. A quick seeking option. I have some large .mp3s > 100 mb and they're a pain to seek through...
8. Seekbar and Visualization in main UI are a few pixels too high. And therefore stretch the buttons and order toolbars - Yeah i'm being picky...
9. Customisable Visualization toolbar. With similar options to Winamp but with the ability to change colours.
10. Capability to move toolbars to the bottom of the UI window.
11. Customisable Buttons toolbar. I don't use Open or Random. A way to change order of buttons and an option to merge the pause/play button.

Just my suggestions on how to make foobar a little bit better than it already is

This will definitely help to keep the GUI simple. However, this option is optional, and empty menus don't kill you.


Even Winamp doesn't do this, man. Go tell Winamp to do it first.


The philosophy of Foobar2000 is to be a no-frills audio player, extensible with optional plugins. Go use Media Player Classic instead. If you want integrated audio/video playback, use Winamp 2.91. I doubt that even the current codebase supports video playback plugins, but I may be wrong.


Gosh do you ever read third-party threads? Seeking speed is codec-dependent! Even if there are different methods for seeking for particular codecs there'll be reasons why Peter chose the slower way.


What has the length of a toolbar got to do with the vertical width of another? Vertical width of toolbars are out of Foobar's control, anyway.


There is no need for any other additional options, IMHO, but colour selection. And maybe the choice between linear and logarithmic, if possible.


Go to 'main menu items' in Preferences and remove those you don't want. Done. As for rearrangement, it may be useful. A unified play/pause button will also do away with one extra toolbar button.

I probably didn't explain myself too clearly. The height of the 'VIS' and 'Seekbar' toolbar is heigher than the 'Buttons toolbar'. Therefore the 'Buttons toolbar' has to stretch vertically to compensate. Anyway...



'Main menu items' changes the menus not the 'Buttons toolbar'
