hey,i just to rip cd to mp3 @ --alt-preset cbr 256 in an mp3 image + cue sheet with eac and then cut them with musiccutter v0.7.1. But now when i wanted to change to --alt-preset extreme ( everybody says the extreme setting is much better quality than cbr 256 + less space) i saw that it is no problem to also cut the mp3 image to mp3 files BUT when i look @ the interface of winamp where you get to see wich bitrate is used i saw like this 256 - 257 - 258 - 250 - 249 - 248 - 247 - 249-.... which normally in the mp3 image was like 320 - 256 - 256- 192 - 320 - etc..

how can i prevent this? wrong choice of musiccutter or wrong plug in for winamp??

greetz

edit : i'm using winamp 2.91

Hmm...
Seems like some ID3v2 weirdness.

what do you recommend?

I guess MusicCutter won't create individual VBR headers, therefore that bitrate "sliding" in the display. No idea how to fix it (i.e. I don't know of any program which can recreate them, but technically this wouldn't be a problem).

Yeah it seems the individual VBR headers aren't properly created. I use mp3trim to correct this problem. You can just drag & drop a bunch of files (folders even) on it and it will recreate the VBR seek information, cleanup the mp3s, remove digital silence, optionally add/remove Id3v1 and v2 tags and normalize them (and more).

Check if it suits your needs here : mp3trim homepage
