whenever i install flash with Firebird, it ends up getting fOOked and turns into Mozilla (even when thats not installed). and thats annoying so i switched to Mozilla 1.5 build. any one else have same prob or know how to fix it?

I use Mozilla Firebird 0.6; About says
QUOTE
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030516 Mozilla Firebird/0.6
.

As I don't know how the difference between pure firebird and "fOOked and turned into Mozilla" looks like, it could be that I already have the fOOked version. Anyway I've just tested with the beautiful music video Falling Star by laxersaz - Result: Flashplayer 6 is installed and works flawlessly (I don't remember when and how I installed it). Hope this helps somehow.

When you install it you have to pick Firebird's plugin directory. Maybe you had both Mozilla and Firebird and installed Flash for Mozilla? Flash works fine here, also the wonderful extension "click to play flash" which prevents pages from starting flash without your concent.

Uncompress firebird into a new directory, copy the plugins from the old installation, delete old installation dir, that should do it.Don't worry about your prefs, you won't lose them.

No. Not really.

This is a bug in Mozilla Firebird up to 0.6.1 and some nightlies after it. It was just fixed in the last several nightlies.

This bug occurs with the file default/pref/all.js. On versions up to 0.6.1 and some nightlies after it, this file uses UNIX format for line endings and not DOS / Windows format. When the Flash installer installs on the Firebird directory, it needs to modify this file in order to get Flash scripting support on Firebird. However, due to this UNIX/DOS format problem, the file is screwed when it is modified by the Flash installer. This makes Mozilla Firebird to have the Mozilla Classic theme look, and becomes unusable.

The detail of this bug is decribed here:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=11183

This bug is fixed in the more recent nightlies. The current recommended nightly is 20030816 and 20030817, described here:

http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=20724

An unofficial installer made by me for this nightly is available here:
http://www.williamng.ws/mozilla/MozillaFir...30817-setup.exe (4.88MB)

Hopefully I will get a mozdev.org account soon.

Edit: some typos.

You didn't read Mozilla Plug-in FAQ, didn't you? The link is by default bookmarked in Firebird...
