Full Version: resample bug with aps?

when transcoding several 48 kHz mp2 files to 44.1 kHz mp3 using aps, 5 of approx. 1400 files produced errors when setting the volume with MP3Gain. MP3Amp says there is an error in the files.

After processing the defect files with MP3Gain, there is a very loud, short beep. MAD plugin for WinAmp says the level is +15 dB!

I tried different settings with these files. Without resample, everything was OK, also r3mix could be processed with MP3Gain.

Did anyone else here find this error? LAME version is 3.90.2 and 3.91.

sounds more like an mp2 sync error to me.. have you tried using a different mp2 decoder? or maybe the mp2 files themselves are corrupted?

I found the same bug in SSRC 1.28, from 44.1 to 48 kHz. It only occurs enabling ATH dither.
The beep ("bang" may be more appropriated) occurs as soon as the program reaches a clipped sample.

mp2 sync error is unlikely, because it does not happen with --r3mix.

When I decode with madplay, resample with ssrc and then encode with lame aps, there is no error.

mad Plugin does not show sync errors in the mp2. With attenuation on the attenuation is -0.3dB

edit:
I might post an excerpt of the mp2 somewhere. The size is 945 kByte

It seems to be a general problem with lame that the global_gain value sometimes is corrupt.
One of my problem files showed this error also with non-alt-preset settings sad.gif
