frist, make sure u have installed the directshow plugin for winamp
secound, del the file in_wm.dll in the plugins folder if u have this installed
last, find the section [in_dshow] in winamp.ini, and add ";wma" at the end of the line "extlist="
then u can use your winamp to play any wma that could play in your wmp.
since this u will never need the file wmaudsdk.dll, and must audio enhancement plugins shoud work on wma files biggrin.gif

works here.

you can also open the directshow decoder configuration in winamp to add wma filetype.

I am fairly certain this method was already mentioned in the 128kbit Test Results thread. However I am too lazy to dig through all 7 (I think) pages of it.

If I was trying to grab the wav output of wmp9 to evaluate codec quality, would using Winamp be a proper procedure? I suppose you'd lose the 24bit precision, and it is unsure what happens in the downconversion to 16bit and in sending the stream back to winamp...?
