i had put the question to zZzZzZz.
the problem is when two players are opened at the same time there will be a noise from the speaker when i pause the foobar2000!!!!

the foobar2000's output format is higher than another player!
e.g. foobar is 24bit and winamp is 16bit!

zZzZzZz told me it the soundcard driver's problem.
but who can tell me which driver i should use?

my soundcard is integrated with motherbord and it is CT5880(creative)!!

help me!!!!

You don't make it clear if this problem also occurs if both players use the same bitdepth.

I don't know which model the CT5880 is, but are you sure that it can even handle 24bit? AFAIK the only Creative card that can do this is the Audigy2. So if there isn't a different solution why don't you just switch to 16bit output in foobar.

The Audigy 1 can handle 24 bit output ....

.... if you're using the latest drivers from the kX Project, and you hand-configure the kX Mixer's DSP panel to use a special version of the FXBus, and you force the player to output at exactly 48000Hz.

Otherwise, no.

there is no problem when they played at the same bitdepth.

they say that it will get a good sound when put the bitdepth to 24bit or 32bit.
so i did it.
and it works.

so i think it can support 24bit or higher by the control of software(foobar or other player) even if the hardware don't support!

there's no this problem in the version 0.667 of foobar2000!

the CT5880 is the wafer that was made by creative for the mainboard manufacturer. it is the same to sound blaster.

can you give me a solution?

No. Windows will automatically downsample it.

oh !! my god
that means i just put it to 16bit.

It'll probably be easier to just get the Audigy2, assuming one has the money biggrin.gif.

... and still use kX Drivers because Audigy2 can't process effects or EAX on 24-bit sounds with Creative's default drivers.

Well, who's gonna be using EAX and 24-bit audio at the same time? And for which reasons anyway?

EAX or any other effects processed by 10k2 DSP.
