Full Version: Storing and playback of DVD on HDD

I want to rip some of my favourite DVD's and have them stored on my HDD for easy access. However, I cannot find a way to play them back!

I'm using PowerDVD for playing. I have tried both playing back the .ts and .vob files, and it works somehow, but it doesn't function like the disc does. For instance, the menu will just be played with blazing speed, and cannot be accessed like a proper menu.

Creating an image doesn't help either, as I can't open the image with PowerDVD. Anyone have an idea what I can do? Do I need another player?

(My rips are fine, because once I burn the image to a DVD+R, the disc works perfectly well.)

TIA,
Von

USe DVD Decrypter to load the image, then Daemon-tools to mount the image. Use any player you like after that. wink.gif

Thanks for the tip. I haven't tried Daemon-tools before, but I have heard of it.

I also think I remember reading something about Daemon-tools causing problems with EAC, or maybe something else that would annoy us audio rippers. Am I correct? And if so, what was that about?

Afaik Daemon tools doesn't cause any problems with EAC, however some other ripper I used to use did get confused by it. The simple solution is to unmount all (if any) CD/DVD images you have mounted and the problem will disappear, until you mount an image again. Not so very annoying I'd say.
