I'm just glad to see science helping to explain the unexplained. This looks like it could be a fair size blow to the 'anti-science' (for lack of a better word) community biggrin.gif .

I think I read the same book. I'm pretty sure it was one of the "Three Investigators" novels, but I dont recall which.

The link about Gavreau is interesting, and reminds me of a Tintin comic book about the subject (sonic weaponry). I may even have the book, perhaps I'll look around later.

Funny that they only mention an elephant. Researchers that monitored the US Navy's SOSUS had discovered unusually low frequency sounds at certain times. Unknown for many years, it was finally revealed to be blue whales.

Seems they dive to a particular depth where the water is at a specific temp and density. Then start their 'singing'. The researchers have found that they are the loudest voiced animals in the world. Though we cannot hear them due to the extreme low frequency. The zone they communicate in is so specific that it is believed they can talk to another of their species on the opposite side of the world.

Ever get that same feeling swimming in the ocean?

So what are the implications for noise shaped dithering? Are mp3s going to turn subwoofers into spookboxes?

Does anybody remember this infrasound thread? I don't recall hearing anything about how the concert in London went. Did anyone attend? Or did Sarah ever report back?
