Hi I'm using lame+razorlame to back up my cd collection, alt preset standard. My problem is some(not many) mp3's play fine all the way till the end while most cut the last 1 or 2 seconds of a particular song off. This is very annoying as can be imagined. Can someone tell me what's wrong?

backimg up your bug. have it too. just on some samples. but as far as i remember this is only on transcoded (<mp3 high bitrate, e.g. 192kbps wink.gif > to <mp3@ABR around 100kbps for my usb/mp3 stick>)

canīt remember example from direct cd rip

I'm not sure what you mean regarding backimg up your bug. I'm no pro at LAME I basically just know how to type alt preset standard drop the wavs in and let her rip.

Check your player settings. If you're using Winamp, check Winamp Preferences - DirectSound Output Settings - Remove silence at the beginning / end of track. If this option is turned on, it could "cut off" the end of your songs, even if they are encoded correctly. Turn it off to prevent this, if it's indeed the cause.

A similar setting could also be the cause for cutting off songs with foobar2000, Quintessential Player, etc. (but I'm not positive about those).

backing up meant having the same bug. as far as iīm rembering, this happened with songs that had an "spoken ending". music was done. but someone was talking something after the music ended. the last word was cut off in the middle/end. am at work. will check that on winamp too. occured on my jamba/sigma usb/mp3-stick.

will know in 1 hour, if only decoding or encoding bug.

Hi I am using winamp. I checked out the remove silence option and it is set to off. I have a feeling it's the type of music that's causing the cut offs(the music is various styles of metal and alot of the songs have precise abrupt endings)

This could also be a problem in the DAE process. You might want to check your Offset correction settings.

Find an example. Rip it to wav uncompressed instead of MP3 : if the problem persists, it comes from CD reading, not MP3 encoding.
Beware that Winamp has a bug : it always cuts a tiny bit of the last track of the playlist. Move the faulty track at the beginning of the playlist and see if the problem persists.
