I've noticed that the "listening now" thread has become quite large, both in posters and readers. In fact, its almost to large to read through end to end. However, the sheer number of both posts and readers implies that this is an interesting topic to many folks. So, I had this idea . . .

I wonder if it would be possible to include a field, when logging on, where you put what you were listening to as you logon. This would then be shown under your member name in every post. You could instantly see what everyone was listening to in somewhat realtime.

Since I don't know much about the forum software, I don't know how impractical this might be to implement, but still, sounds like a fun idea. Whats everybody think?

Interesting idea, but there are also plugins available for Winamp (and I presume for foobar2000 as well?) that will parse a user's playlist, and feed the relevant lines in real-time. I know I've seen a few of those in folks' signatures, every now and then....

The nice thing about the "What are you listening to right now?" thread is that one also has room to explain why they are listening to that particular selection, and offer little bits of trivia/additional information to hook someone else into the band. It's an interesting way to learn about music that many of us might not have otherwise known was notable, if we knew about it at all. smile.gif

Edit: ... although I notice that the thread is seldom actually used that way. Far too many folks are content to just give name, artist, and possibly codec. sad.gif
