Hi!
I'm new here so please bear with me!
Is there a way to convert audio cd books to mp3?
Thanks in advance...

How are they different from normal CDs? If they're not different at all, then there are PLENTY of ways.

Thanks for the answer...
I tried several times and kept having a problem with the exact same place on 2 different cd's. I even tried the same book but a different set of cd's and had the same problem with the same tracks. I thought maybe there was some type of anti-copy stuff there that I didn't know about.

me again...
The programs that I tried to use I think went straight to mp3 from the cd. Would it be better to go to wav first?
Remember, I;m new at this so I might ask some pretty dumb questions!
Thanks...

You could either have a copy protected CD which wouldn't be out of the ordinary these days, or you could have a CD with an area with errors that aren't being detected and corrected.

It would help us if you would tell us what you are ripping with because Exact Audio Copy (EAC) is what is recommended here since it can extract audio securely using EAC's Secure Mode.
EAC is available at http://www.exactaudiocopy.de

Assuming that you have the space, yes it would be prudent to go to wav first. In the case of Exact Audio Copy (EAC), you can correct any glitches that might occur.

Thank you both!
The first time I tried to do it, the second disk of five total got to the last track and wouldnt finish. The same thing happened with the 4th disk. I actually ordered another new copy of the book just thinking that there was a glitch on my first copy of the audio book.
Isn't EAC the one that actually has you put a bad cd in the machine so that it can try to correct it during the set up?

By the way...
The software that I tried was Musicmatch and Windows Media Player.

It CAN do that, but it's not necessary. That's used to determine if your drive reports C2 errors. If you know what features your drive has, then it's not necessary. Alternatively, if you have the same drive as someone else that's done this test, then you can just use their settings.

Personally, I think that having the EXACT setting for your drive borders on paranoia. That said, it doesn't hurt to perform that setup.

BTW, if you want an alternate setup, get Exact Audio Copy and Lame 3.90.3 (http://rarewares.hydrogenaudio.org/mp3.html). Winamp 2.91 is an excellent alternative to Windows Media Player.

Be sure to get the MAD Plugin for Winamp if you do decide to use it.
