Just curious wich formats can be handled on OSX. Obviously MP3 and now AAC in an MP4 container. I'm also pretty sure there are plugins for FLAC? What about OGG or Musepack?
Is anybody running linux on a Mac?

It depends on what player you use. Virtually all players support the formats QuickTime support. (AAC, MP3, etc.) There is a QuickTime component for Ogg Vorbis. I know of no Aqua players that support FLAC or Musepack, but both can be played back using command line utilities. Audion (a third party MP3 player) supports Ogg Vorbis natively. If all else fails, XMMS works quite well.
I have a Linux install on my mac, but I don't use it. Had some troubles with sound output being distorted.

there are a few options for musepack under mac...
one is the CLI decoder found on frank klemm's website:
http://musepack.tk (zip file:
http://www.personal.uni-jena.de/~pfk/MPP/b...MacOS-X-1.1.zip )
i'll ask a friend about more options (he's on osX).
i dunno about ogg
i just got word from a debian maintainer that the xmms/faad packages i packaged for debian compile for ppc cleanly with some forcefull assistance... so if you want debian linux on yer mac...

For FLAC playing try:
http://www.macamplite.com/and for GUI encode/decode:
http://www.danrules.com/macflac/edit: I believe MPlayer OS X (mplayerosx.sourceforge.net) and VLC (videolan.org) can play various audio formats too, though they are primarily Video players.
