I was just sent this fantastic player by one of the forum members here -- thanks porcuhead for switching me on to this!!

I was wondering what's the best way to set it up... How are people using this? Could anyone give me advice on how to get the best out of it or point me in the right direction so I can find out? I already searched the forum and didn't really find much useful info on this seemingly overlooked little beast. Only a few days ago I switched from being a long-time user of QCD to foobar2000 v0.7, but now I have a feeling that 1by1 is gonna become my player of choice. Still, all this changing player is getting confusing!

I intend to start experimenting with the AAC format, I have lots of bits and pieces already and I don't know where to start! But anyway, if I'm happy with the results I get with AAC I'll mainly be using this format, plus of course my trusty old LAME encoded --alt-preset extreme mp3's with the 1by1 player.

I have a few questions:

Wave Device Settings > Output Device -- should I use the default setting (Wave Mapper) or my (crappy) Creative card that came with the PC? I intend to upgrade the soundcard very soon as this cheap card just isn't good enough and I'm not sure whether to use it's output.

MPEG Decoder -- ACM (Default) or mpglib.dll?

Is the Winamp MAD plugin compatible with this version of 1by1?

Any advice on plugins, etc. would be much appreciated.

I've been using this player for a while myself. And I love it!
Good choice there deeswift. wink.gif

I'm not sure about the output device...

But for the mp3s, I would definitely recommend NOT using the ACM decoder. The quality of the ACM codec is not assured. You could try the mpglib.dll, I hear it's pretty good. However, I would just drag Winamp's in_mp3.dll into the 1by1 directory and use that instead. The Winamp MP3 decoder is very good, and I haven't seen any problems with it so far.

Hi deeswift,
coz i'm the guilty man i have to help you.
wave mapper as output works fine at my side. i also do the default mpeg decoder - acm. when i playback mp 3 the installed winamp plugin (in my case the in_mp3Pro.dll works for mp 3 playback ) is in use. i think also the mad plugin should work with 1by1. but i think there is no need for it. coz the included in_mp3Pro.dll is from Thomson the makers of mp3 pro format and decodes mp3 pro as well as mp3 in best sound. if you want to use another mp3 decoder for yourself erase the in_mp3 pro dll from the 1by1 directory and put your mad dll or anything in. it's your way, but as i told there is no need to do that.
hope my answers helped you and have phun with the smallest audioplayer available.
i call it genius.

porcuhead! Thanks again, I really appreciate your help. I'm also very impressed with AAC, it's great that you sent me all this stuff. I'll mail you back soon!

Coolin -- thank you also. I'll just experiment with various codecs and see what happens.

Now I'm using 1by1 all other players seem massively bloated, this thing is great. Once minimised it uses barely any resources at all! Other players should learn something from this. I suppose some people might be offended by that statement, but foobar really does use up too much resources, as does QCD. I hope 1by1 sees the support it deserves.

*EDIT!*

porcuhead -- at first I didn't see the in_mp3PRO.dll you included already, but this seems to be doing a fine job so far.

Also, does anyone know if QCD plugins will work with this player? I know that most Winamp 2 plugins work with QCD... just a thought.
