Full Version: Can someone do something like?
Hydrogenaudio Forums > Hosted Forums > foobar2000 > 3rd Party Plugins - (fb2k)
MachineHead
It's a plugin that displays what's playing now through messenger pop-up.

Screenshot.

It's a little different then OSD because it also displays cover art.

EDIT: Title should be - Can someone do something like this?

EDIT 2: Links were scrambled. Screenshot instead.

Latest incarnation. Anyone interested in attempting to try something similar for fb2k?

Latest screenshot and newer version.

seems to me, like the only thing necessary is an option in foo_osd, to display coverart left or right of the format-string.

Is that possible with OSD?

Sounds like a job for foo_looks.

Don't want to use foo_looks. I like the way foobar looks without a skin.

It just puts a call to messanger and bingo, instant pop-up with cover art, and the ability to rate a particular song on the spot. It is also configurable as to where (screen placement), what's previous-next, transparency capable, and skinnable to any extent one wishes. Also has the ability to ftp to a server for playing now posting if one wishes. Though that isn't quite so necessary IMO.

I'd guess yes. The question is just, how difficult it is to implement, and if kode is willing to do it.

However - it doesn't appear to me, that song-rating is osd's business.

Also, i don't know how many additional features kode is willing to implement, since the prefs of foo_osd are quite a mess, and he said already a while ago, that he's looking for someone to make a better prefs-dialog, since there is nearly no room left for additional options.

Might be able to get around some of those hang-ups with this.
