I ripped a song using EAC and offset correction +685. Then I ripped the same song with dBpowerAMP using no offset. Comparing the wavs, the EAC said that the dBpowerAMP one had 685 samples repeated on the beginning and nothing more. As the offset is positive, shouldn't there be a lack of 685 samples in the end of the dBpowerAMP ripped wav? Is the lenght of the file the same, when ripping with and without the offset correction, or is only the starting pont different?

Update: I now ripped it also with EAC without offset and wave compare still shows only the difference in the beginning.

Just for the sake of it, have you tried changing the positive value to negative.
I don't really know how to interpret the "repeated" report on EAC, so when I get it, usually changing the value to its opposite does the trick.

Also, how did you get this offset value?

EAC said that the dBpowerAMP one had 685 samples repeated on the beginning and nothing more

and you were also expecting 685 missing samples on the end of the other track, right?
Well, I can't explain why, but it's 'normal'. I experience the same thing.
Sometimes it says 'missing samples' for one track, sometimes 'repeated samples' for the other track. But I don't know why - all i can tell is that it is 'normal' (nothing wrong)

Maybe this should be reported to the author of EAC, because comparing should reveal all the differences. I think EAC reports "repeated samples", because the beginning of the track is digital silence, so EAC thinks it's repeated.

The offset shouldn't affect the situation (only the "repeated samples" number), but i got the offset from dBpowerAMP using several different key-discs.

(As i'm off to the army i won't be answering to this thread from tomorrow morning)
