Full Version: Gee, doesn't it ever stop?

Okay, EAC (0.95pre1) seems to like only (true) Sony's CDs, Feurio seems to dislike the same Sony's, but seems to have no problem with the somewhat shitty Ritek's. I just want a programme that works!

So, I tried Burrrn (1.04), and now I have the following (rather strange) problem: burning seems to go normal but when playing the final CD (whether a CD-RW or a CD-R, even from different manufacturers), every track change is accompanied by a "static" (?) click. Checking the WAV files both before burning and after burning (ripped again with EAC) doesn't show any static or whatever click. Conclusion: it must be a physical issue with the burned CD (although when using the same CD-RW and burning something with Feurio, shows a clickless result.

I'm going slightly mad..............

Have you tried them on different CD players? Could it not be a player issue instead?

Yes, unfortunately.... just tried it, playing it on a CD-R/RW suitable Sony discman: static clicks (now I really start crying).

Okay, I listened to another CD-burn attempt, this time by EAC. Result: static clicks at trach change. F#@! Well, now I know at least it's not per se the burn software. Hmmm, let's think for a while. Right, let me check the number of samples in the MP3 files that were decoded to the burned WAV files. I used fb2k's "Fix MP3 Header" option to round the MP3 files off (down) to the nearest multiple of 588 samples. Sometimes only a few samples.... CLI/convert again to WAV (don't use DSP, but use RG). Burn again: Whooooooooooooooooooooopieeeeeeeeee!

No more static!

I guess I was "fooled" by listening to the MP3 files in fb2k; even without fixing the sample count of the files, fb2k played them gaplessly. I guess this brings the next issue up: a few practical modifications to the "Fix MP3 Header" option/window in fb2k. I'll post that separately..... biggrin.gif
