Hey guys,

I just used the 0.7.1 "Special" installer from foobar.org, and I get this error when running foobar.

ERROR (CORE) : Failed to load DLL: foo_wma.dll, reason: Unable to load dll

I did not have this component installed before this version, so this is the first time I have seen it. I removed the offending DLL, and foobar works without reporting any errors.

I suppose someone needs to update that DLL to work with 0.7.1?

I'm puzzled. Installer is designed to auto-detect presence of Windows Media 9 Runtime files and it prompts to download them if it can't find them. Didn't the check work for you?

it always tells me to download the wmp runtime thing although i installed this thing before. (and it of course works without installing it)

Can you check if you have following registry key: 'HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ Software\Microsoft\Multimedia\Components\Informational\playback_WMFSDK\Files\File1', here REG_SZ key 'Version' with some numeric value. What value do you see? And what OS is that?

I was never prompted for any check. It just installed without a problem.

I see "9.0.0.2980" in my "Version" key.

I have Windows XP Pro with SP1 and a ton of hotfixes.

I have installed Windows Media 9's codecs, when prompted by Windows Update, but not Windows Media Player 9 itself. I've never had a need to with Foobar and Winamp around. Plus with the codecs downloaded it all plays fine in Media Player 8.
