Full Version: Opinions on Bang&Olufsen in-ear headphones?

As I stated in my "Thank you" post in the main forum, I have a few questions, and will start with the easiest one.

I recently bought the Bang&Olufsen A08 (I think that's their art.no., see B&O Headphones) and am not totally sure if they are really good. I mean, to me they "sound" quite nicely, but in the higher mids they seem to make my ears "ring" (which could also be a problem with my hearing or artifacts in my encodings). I'm using them on my iRiver iHP-100...I just want in-ear phones, can't personally stand the bigger ones.

Has anybody else tried them or owns them, or is this just the completely wrong forum for this kind of question and I should go duck'n'cover? smile.gif I'd just like to get some opinions from people who probably know about the matter best.

Thanks in advance,

HeadFi is probably the best place, I've heard mention of the B&O in-ears there before, thou the comments I remember weren't very favourable. Usually the Ety's and Shure's are the prefered ones in comparision there, I've only used Shure E1's and find them excellent for the size. They did take a week or two to 'burn-in' before the lows and highs reached there full quality, after that they've been the best sounding phones I've ever used.

What sort of encoding have you used? MP3s at 160VBR or above should sound okay, you can always do some at 320CBR to compare. Also the iHP has lineouts so hooking it up to a good hifi should give you a good indication if the B&O's are to blame. dry.gif

Tried them and I was not very impress with them considering the price you pay for them... You can get a pair of Sennheisers (HD-497) but then again Sennheisers in ear ones aren't that too crash hot either. Plus you don't like going out in a pair of HD-497's tongue.gif Really up to you cause I got the same problem the lows were too low and the highs not high. Muffled I think is the word.

I've had the earphones for a year now. and they sound ok. BUT not for the price!!
I used to have sony in ear head phones and they sounded MUCH better for almost the same price (still expensive). You can compare the beo:s to a pair of $30-40 phones. But the design is cool and they are REALY comfortable and the build quality is the best there is. So they're great for anyone who wants decent sound and great design, and don't mind spending(wasting) a bit of money.
