What happened to CDDB that was in earlier versions of EAC? Didn't CDDB have more accurate and official tracklists? FreeDB is just made of punx that make typo's when they make the tracklist and send it to the server for us to recieve.

EDIT: sorry for the commotion, its just I'm tired of having flawed tags and its no way to build a good collection

CDDB is now owned by GraceNote. GraceNote requires paying fees in order to use their CDDB2 service, while freedb, as the name tells you, is free.
Also, what makes you feel freedb is not as good as CDDB2? 99.8% of the titles returned from freedb match the names listed on the CD cover.

I just felt that CDDB was better because i thought the record companies labeled them themselves so it was official and flawless. I've received several typos out of maybe 40-50 cds i ripped

Not a chance

as far as record companies go, anyone who rips audio from legal CDs they own are the Enemy! (all the copy protection discs these days).

not so. the CDDB database was enhanced by the users. it is normal people like you and i who submitted CD info to the database when it used to be free and as such the database grew. record companies had nothing to do with this. when gracenote decided to make people pay for this service, everybody went to freedb, which is very good and i get accurate titles most of the time from it.

I find that FreeDB has alot more garbage on it than CDDB. The database on FreeDB has alot of double entries, etc. CDDB is not entirely accurate either though.
Hell, sometimes the tracknames don't even correspond between the liner notes and the back of the CD case. In some cases these even have errors in them!
Usually I will just get the info from the back of the CD and allmusic.com

You want to use Gracenote CDDB with EAC, right? No problem, easy as 1, 2,3 (and it's still free, BTW.)
First, download & install the freeware, "Player" (http://www.vuplayer.com). Perform the CDDB lookup, export the info from Player as "cdplayer.ini," then import it into EAC.

Of course there are going to be a few typo's. I don't know the exact number of entries in the freedb but it must be hundreds of thousands. As someone else said, it is users like you, me and others who contribute to the database. Some are more accurate than others.
If you find an entry riddled with errors you can correct them and resubmit the modified entry. I have done this several times.
Personally, I prefer to correct the odd word rather than type everything myself...
