Hello to all
I'm just getting started w. foobar and other related stuff like tagging, ABX, Repl. Gain etc. etc. I read a lot in the last days and nights, but I'm gettind to a point where my head is about to burst from all that flow of information.
Now, first of all, FB is spartanic which I like in fact, but holy cow, where's the vol knob LOL? If it gets answered in my first post below, just skip this one.
I have very little idea about the whole potential of FB, but understood that it is extremely capable to handle Replay Gain features over a large collection of files with various different formats.
Somewhwre in the info flood of the last days I picked up some that states that FB's funktionality is dependent on a prper tagging of the files.
Since I haven't tagged my files by myself, you can imagine how chaotic they look.
Can someone explain me how to conveniently tagg a mixed basket of MPC,Ogg and MP3 files so that all FB features can get into business.
I've downloaded tagger which I haven't installed yet. Please keep in mind that I'm looking at a mass tagging job.
Thanx a bunch Ladies

Hope not to be misleading. I'm not focused on the tagger tool. JUst wanted to mention that I already downloaded it. Any convenient tool to serve the FB standart of tagging is entirely welcome.
Thanx again

The
Collaborative FB2K Documentation Project thread has some information about foobar2000, including picmixer's unofficial masstagger guide. I suggest you go there first, and ask again when you have a better understanding of what masstagger is and what it can do for you.
The masstagger component is included in the normal and special installers, so you probably already got it.
PS: Yes, I know. That's even more information for you to read.

afaik - not true, no tagging is required to get the full out of fb2k, only some playlist setups require specialized tags.

either use the keyboard + and - (default) (also doubleclick on the volume display will get you the slider in preferences),
or remove the volume dsp and use your system volume sliders.

Yo, Smok3
I coincidentally found the site where I picked up the tagging idea. But wasn't there an issue w. the FB Database and search feature too. Dunno for sure, my head is spinning. Sorry for being unprecise.
I think I might give my FooBar a try w. one of these skins. Man if I only knew how to craete my own skin. I think I know what you guys likes. Hell, I'm happy w. the + - Volume keys for now LOL.
Here's what I'm referining to.

Note this!
Most of the styles on this page require that you have tagged your audio files correctly. Most commonly used tags are (these are quite self-explanatory...)

most of the styles use some sort of hybrid display afaik, so if there are no tags they should still be able to display something at least half decent, that is now even eaiser with 0.7.1 where one can select the action based on playlist name, for example my curent config (not on that page yet) will display songs without any tags corectly if playlist name includes 'single' like pj_singles or something...
example for files with no tags: (will use directory name and file name)

I'm taking a little break from the "Collaborative FB2K Documentation Project
Man, this ain't no easy stuff. I consider my English as sufficient enough to understand most issues but this is getting way over my head. Is there a German documentation available?
Oddly enough it was the english sites that helped me to understand the German EAC most.
Anyway I got stuck with the mas tagger feature. Oh, well. getting back to it right in a moment.

Case's delux installer has a freedb tagger which is awesome. You need to have the entire album for it to work easily, but then it'll grab all the info and fill in into whichever tags you set foobar to use automattically.

Yeah, I noticed this feature which I rate very cool, but it won't be any help for ya in case of "The North Mississippi Allstars" LOL. FreeDB can't find no info on these folks LOL. BTW a little off topic just for giggles. These guys are bone hard original Bluegrass performers that recorded an entire album full of Top 30 hit records cover songs. It's fun to listen to "Sweet Soul Music" or "Walking the dog" in a virtuoso Bluegrass style LOL.
