After having had some time to examine the current situation with the Hydrogenaudio community and forums, the staff has reached some conclusions on both how to address certain issues which have arised as of late, and how to move forward with the community.
Although not much has apparently changed yet, there will probably be some much more visible changes presented relatively soon, as well as more of a clarification as to the nature of the current situation.
In the meantime, we would suggest that speculation is kept to a minimum. We realize that many of the members of this forum have been concerned with both the sudden nature of this temporary suspension of operation, and some of the uncertainties presented by it, but we would like to try and reassure people that Hydrogenaudio is not going away, it's just adapting and changing to meet new demands. This temporary suspension of service has been a necessary step in putting into motion certain internal processes which will eventually move HA forward and work to further ensure it's long term viability.
So for now, we would like to encourage people to simply continue using HA as they have traditionally, with a note that we will be making some announcements shortly about certain changes that are going to be implemented soon.
happy .. HA come back ..
as you know .. your stop and go decision .. had generate many discussions
and this "silence" was a good experience to appreciate what HA community offers us .. I can say as all people from the french community i know .. that we all consider HA as a "la référence" for HQ-Audio and many of us need experts advices and comments. Some of them post on HA and other french forum like Gurub.. or G.bouvigne
We hope that as "newbies" we don't discourage all your efforts ..
I know that my english is not so fluent to translate all the reality of my thought but i prefer to be awkward and grab this event to Thanks all Folks
thanks much

I'm joining in on the "thank you" for everyone here, especially Dibrom and the mods, for all your time, efforts and patience! We tend to take some things for granted, so this momentary interruption has been a nice "reality check".
On a lighter (darker?) note, you could tell there were lots of us having withdrawl symptoms and dropping by #hydrogenaudio just to feel "at home"

(or should that be

)
Cheers, Joey.

As long as relevant changes and the clarification regarding "nature of current situation" are reasonably visible and kept open (Ie. no "hidden" rules that affects users), I'm not too worried.
It's really good to have HA.org back up and running again

I didnt realise how much i needed HA.org until it was down for a few days, and i guess i just learned to appreciate it more than i have done in the past.
Thanks Dibrom (and the rest of the crew).

I post very little, but I read allot.
Take all the time you need Dibrom to do what you need to do.
I'm sure it will benefit everyone here.
And keep up the great work with HA!
first of all: I'm glad ha is back on!
as a source of heaps of interesting, mostly objective information regarding audio compression, but also nearby topics, it has become an important, interesting place to visit for me.
and though I'm far from wanting to push moderators to 'reveal' the problems that lead to the temp. closing of ha, I guess we all would be very intersted in the reasons, the course of events, and the solutions (of course, bandwith and resulting costs, as well as the 'mod-problem' have been mentioned earlier, but I cant' think of that beeing the only primary reasons... but maybe some things shouldn't be discussed in public, that's all right).
so, wherever the path of ha is going to lead us, if it is well explained and reasonable (which was IMO the way it was in the past, AFAICT as a newer user),
then I see no problem that couldn't be solved by the work of the members and moderators of this board.
keep up the good work, and maybe there's yet some way to improve it even more...
I'm glad you're back, and I'm sure I have the support of the entire community when I say we welcome any changes you decide to implement Dibrom.
Dibrom,
As the worlds favourite Hydrogen Audio user*, I must say, MEGA MEGA TURBO THANKYOU!!!

As being followed HA's operation some time it has been to me a great source for many good answers to my (and many other's) questions and hundreds of fine links given, which are for sure hard to find anywhere else and much more - i cannot even try to mention withot filling the whole page.
I just welcome You all staff back with a heart - admins mods developers bosses who ever You all are behind and responsible for these forums.
I'm as a user quite a new here, but as an anonymous "member" i have been visiting here a lot during past 6 months and when i saw that sign over the front door few days ago, i was so disappointment at first, but something inside me said that You will be back (as they say in movies)

So now we have just to wait and see what the changes will be and how (if any) will they affect to us regular members ....
(Hoping that the direction will be just right and fine!!!)
Best regards!
I was actually quite amused by all the confusion/rumors (IRC, slashdot, doom9) HA's closing caused but it's definetly good to have it back.

keep up the good work.
btw: GREAT signature

It's all ancient greek to me
heya. haven't posted much here lately.. been listening to - and writing - music rather than discussing technical aspects behind it. regardless I saw the slashdot story and was sorry to see HA shutting down for whatever reason. Its a great resource and has some very cool members. Glad to things back up and running here again!
Glad you're back! I guess I can quit the Prozac then (damn side effects).
Wouldn't it have been possible to do whatever you did without taking the site offline? Or announcing a few days downtime beforehand? The ambiguous letter also didn't help prevent wild speculations.

I was extremely relieved to see the site back up. I know I don't/can't offer much; but I have read and read- and learned so much. The sense of loss when the site was 'down' was unreal. Hope you can tolerate someone who appreciates everything everyone contributes- and has been helped many times here by other members. Thanks again- cadabra3

Like many others I am a reader rather than a poster. On the odd occasion I could have said something I've been beaten to it.
I consider the knowledge I have gained by accessing this forum to be invaluable, and I gain great encouragement from it.
Please keep up the good work.

Only having been a member a few months (and still considering myself a n00b accordingly), HA has become an important part of my day, every day. I never took it for granted, yet I still didn't know how important it was to me until it was gone. This is truly the only place on the internet I like to be, and I've made a lot of friends here.
It's nice to come to a place with actual standards. It's very rare on the internet, as there is mostly just a sea of FUD and bunk on the other end of my connection everywhere else I go.
As said so many times before, a big...
Thank You
...to Dibrom and JohnV and everyone else directly involved for making HydrogenAudio stand out from all the rest.

I gotta say it too, thanks all involved for all you do.
This was a classic case of not realizing what you had til its gone.
The simple ability to answer posts in other forums by a link to
the relative thread here was, like having the library closed.
(I know . . . a direct contradiction to something I just posted
in another thread.)

Man, I am glad to see you back. I only today discovered the return when I tried typing "hydrogenaudio.org" into mozilla's address bar-and like the return of your gaurdian angel, you are there again!!! Thank you for coming back. I was actually starting to waste time playing computer games in the evening again, instead of asorbing knowledge from here.
Heck, this is the place that inspired me to go out and buy "Warning" by Green Day, cause that 11 second sample of "Waiting" that was used for codec tests drove me nuts-a tantalizing 11 seconds, and I wanted to hear the rest!!!. I am listening to Warning at this very moment, stored on my new external 120 gig HD-encoded into Monkeys-High
because of this place!!!
A sincere thank you for coming back.
