iRiver has released the first of their (long-awaited) firmwares supporting Vorbis! smile.gif
The only one out as of now is for the iHP-100 model though, but still, this is good news.

That's terrific...I can see firmware for my 350 on the horizon now. B)
If anyone here has one and has tested the firmware then do post details.

PS: Sure is nice having HA back on-line

This firmware was released the same day that HA went offline.
I was so happy and sad at the same time!
Kind of like when something good happens to you and there is noone to share it with.

I am so glad HA is back

Ohh, and I am also looking forward for that 350 FW as well!

That doesn't cover a decent percentage of my files.

If someone does test & review, can you check:

1) mono encoded
2) mono with 22 khz sample rate?

and nice to see Iriver made this upgrade. but does anyone maybe know of other (cheaper) small mp3players with ogg support??? they're hard to find...

I flashed my iHP-100 with the new firmware at the weekend and had a stack of CDs that I needed to encode so have done them as Ogg... Listening to Basement Jaxx - Kish Kash on it at the moment B)

Oh man, you guys (iRiver player owners) r so lucky. I am sure the rest of the iRiver players will have the firmware upgrade available soon.

I got a Nex IIe, they said that they will have firmware in the future to play ogg also. The waiting continue....... huh.gif

There is a posting on their web site with plans for Ogg firmware.
Basically, the latest models will get the update.

IFP-300 series and up, IMP 250 and up. On some of these you will have to choose between WMA and Ogg as they won't both fit at once. The classic toblerone shaped ifp-100 series will not get it in the current plan.
