Does anyone know of a program similar to mp3Trim, which will allow me to split/cut an Ogg Vorbis file encoded using GT3b1? I need to do this on all the CD's I have with hidden tracks. If there isn't such a program, then I guess I'll have to do it to the original .wav file, but it would be easier if someone can suggest a program that does it to an Ogg Vorbis file.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

vcut from the official vorbis-tools can do that. musiCutter is another alternative.

CrazyCoder
http://mp3splt.sourceforge.net/ does it faster and easier (works with both ogg and mp3 files).

hello audiophiles, i tried all the software mentioned above.

1. mp3splt:

best program so far for me. does cut with and without cuesheets. set begin and end points manually. BUT you can't encode files per cmd-line when there exists any spaces in filename. working with .bat does work with spaced files, but the output creates everytime _starttime_endtime as addition to the filename...AND ...all your tag info gets lost as the programmer works his own infos over it

2. musicutter

its a bit complicated to set manual start and end points... when you like to cut a file not for just .cue sheet cutting imaginations you might be wrong with that program here...but for CUE this is the best program you ll get. tag info stays... and the results will work for 95% even when it is uses vcut

3. vcut

well vcut comes along with the vorbis tools themselves... dunno if the problem are my Garf Tuned oggs Q5 with ~180 or if it is anything else...but as you have to cut the files manually... something might be wrong with my input... (even when i dont know what it might be) 3/4 results worked... but still there was 25% that did NOT work... its the same vcut as it is used by musicutter, so there MUST be something wrong when used without gui.... playing a file cutted from second 30 to 60 crashed my whole system. next is.... when you cut... you cannot say... the middle might has to stay only... the rest is not to be created.... anyway... it will create ...or leave any pieces of your cut. delete manually!

4. ogg vorbis cutter

worst program as i saw the GUI, but did not cut any file. installed preverences as like the direct filter.... but no way to cut it... clicking ...even when marked the wished part... results in just nothing... for me its not worth the download.... if you get it to work, it might be the simplest GUI and easy to be used.

so now theres a big problem.... i need to use BATCH cut... taking whole structures maybe named like this:

D:\Genre\Year\Artist - Album\Number. Artist - Title

should be copied and cut to files of 30 seconds with 5 seconds fade in and fade out.
i've gone with my wish of fade in and out... but how should ogg get a standard when you just have 4 programs to cut, and not one is working correct.... mp3cutter is a program that seems to be the target what should be for ogg. even REENCODER that claims to work with ogg and claim to automatic edit with batch and maybe even for cut... no way... these 4 above are the only i found... and i now need a solutions for tons of GB real GT3b1 tuned ...direct ripped with EAC ogg files to get something i might can place on an internet site... i appreciate some help and need another solution then the bad batch of mp3splt.

other batchworks are not even in sight for me....any solutions i might didnt get up to now ?

thx forwarded
Max

PS: holding ogg comments of the original files would be greatfully awaited as addition but is no MUST as i can reget the comments by strcuture (mp3bookhelper, mp3tag)

edit: my System is AthlonXP 2400+ on GA7-VAXP KT400, 2x 512 266 DDR CL2 running on Win2000 SP2 with accessibility of datacomponents like SP4 (manual upgraded) directx newest, 3x hdd 80gb 1x hdd 60gb, kx audio drivers newest on creative audigy 1 Platinum eX and a plextor burner. most common rip programs used here EAC with named GT3b1, and Easy CD-DA Extractor 5.1 from Poikosoft, even when this one is not in any way far as good as the EAC... i use it actually to rip off the 30 second files, i may like to generate right now...and music collector for database.

Well, you must be the first user that can not use that program... tongue.gif
Vorbis Cutter uses a DS filter because it allows to cut ogg video files (ogm) too. So you must install the Tobias' Ogg Direct Show filter first.

user posted image

1)Open the .ogg file. Use the seek bar, the cursor keys or the search buttons, and
2)Select the start point
3)Select the end point
4)Save the selected fragment. It'll keep the original tags.

Edit: But it does nothing about batch cuts, fade in/out, etc.

i just didnt click on save. but understood now. DS Filter was installed

well but i still deserve batch mode smile.gif

edit: why do i have to save in ogm ? well it is a container, yes.... but it is an ogm, no ogg anymore. there are different programs that need the .ogg part otherwise they dont play the songs
