Full Version: Silly ReplayGain question

Hello, I just finished recording a TV broadcast concert to my hard drive because I want to have an audio copy to listen at will.

I have it all as one large wav file. Obviously I'm going to split in into tracks, when a little, silly question popped in my mind:
Should I ReplayGain the concert now, as one big file or adjust it when I have split the concert in smaller files.

I'm pretty sure that, if you use "Album Gain" on the small files at the same time, the global gain should be the same as the one I would get on the large file.

Or would it be?

What do you think?

That's correct.

Personally I'd go the following way:
Processing/Cutting -> Compression to lossless files -> ReplayGain these files

Thanks for the ultra-quick response smile.gif

That is the way I had originally though of going, but I needed some "reassurement".
Thanks.

Also, do you suggest any additional processing?
The broadcast was in stereo already, and the sound quality was OK.
A little high on the bass, so I turned it down a little.

Should I do anything else?

Personally I wouldn't touch it anymore if you are happy with the sound quality. Just be sure to keep a back-up of the original files somewhere in case you decide to work on it again.
