VP6 is the leading codec available for PC and set-top box applications, offering up to 40% better quality and 50% better playback performance than our revolutionary VP5 codec.
VP6 is the best video codec on the market today. It offers better image quality and faster decoding performance than Windows Media 9, Real 9, H.264, and QuickTime MPEG-4.

The Codec registers as a standard VfW codec and features profiles similiar to the ones of MPEG-4.
This is following the public release of their older codec VP4.

VP3 provides the code-base for Xiph.org's Theora project.

While encoder is stable and shows good results - realtime mode is realtime (by cost of space of course smile.gif ) , slow is not so slow as it could be, - decoder is buggy and can show or not show visual artifacts from play to play, attempt to change post processing settings leads to blue screen of death (but changes are saved).

Bleh. I'm still to see a decent On2 codec. From my experience (and from lots of Doom9's user experiences), they all suck beyond belief. VP6 is no different.

In our internal testing, VP6 beat H.264, Windows Media 9 and Real Networks 9 in PSNR comparisons using the standard set of MPEG-2 test clips. The codec looks better than Windows Media 9, shows far fewer motion artifacts than Windows Media 9, and maintains more texture and detail than Real 9 or H.264.

LOL!

According to Doom9's forum the encoding is slow as hell, but the results are quite impressive.
