Hi to all,

I have quite a good bunch of mpc- files, tagged with ape2. By accident I lost all my tags!!! -- don't ask my why!!!
Now I desperately try to get back the tags.

Please!!!! can anybody help me???

I tried with "guess values" and "format values" from Masstagger, etc., but I don't get it !!!

All files are in the same folder and the filename scheme is:


William Orbit - [The Best Of Strange Cargos] - 01. Water From A Vine Leaf.mpc

The brackets are part of the filename!

Please can anybody advise me and show me the easyest way how to get back my tags ????

Well if it really works without the single quotes, it's my bad I'm so used to add those for nearly all "special" characters in any kind of title formatting.

edit: I needed to test that and I noticed that I was wrong Moneo's code works perfectly, whereas my code would put everything in the %artist% tag.

There's no need to enclose braces in quotes when using "guess from filename".

@Moneo: Noticed that. One shouldn't make statements if he isn't 110% sure about it.

"format value from filename" is not a given field!! -- only "format value from..." When you open "format value from..." you have two fields:

1) Destination field name: what to insert here???

2) Formatting pattern: guess to insert here "%artist% - '['%album%']' - %tracknumber%. %title%"

But what about Destination field name??

You should use "Guess values from filename..." and enter "%artist% - [%album%] - %tracknumber%. %title%" (without quotes) to the Sceme box.
