All Musepack tools before 1.01g had several bugs concerning gapless encoding.

You can get ICL (=fast!) compiles of Mppdec and Winamp Plugin at my page.

Compiles courtesy of John33.

Hmm, I wonder why the headroom scale is now from 2 to 26dB??

Why no 0dB headroom with replaygain?

The Media Jukebox plugin is now updated to reflect the gapless bug fixes. http://www.naivesoftware.com

Users of the Winamp plugin, please try the one available here:
http://www.naivesoftware.com/mpcfix/in_mpc.zip

It's ICL compiled and fixes the gapless issues that still remain (these issues are not present in the command line decoder). I will send Frank the updated source so he can merge the fixes.

For those interested, here is the source file (copy this to the Winamp plugin source directory). This fix is located in the DECODE function...

Gapless is working perfectly for me on the offending samples posted a few days ago.

The meaning of this item is "Peak level - Average level".
A constant sine wave has 3 dB. 0 dB is only useful if listing
to rectangular signals taken from function generators
instead of audio source like radio, tape and CD.

Happy listening!

In the [Help] Menü there is a link to a good explanation.
Only useful for people who can read English.

The color-bar bug is gone  tongue.gif

Thanks for the nice explanation on the help-button!

Yeah this is great except that now MPC with title based replaygain sounds always a bit quieter than Vorbis and MP3 after replaygain adjustments (title)...

Well, because MPC's replaygain calculates RMS over shorther blocks than vorbisgain/mp3gain it sounded a bit louder with 0dB headroom. Now MPC sounds always a bit quieter with 2dB headroom than vorbisgain/mp3gain.
Sure you can tweak these to give approximately the same volume levels, but it isn't automatic. Oh well, maybe this is just nit-picking, I don't know...

Give me back the 0 dB headroom option please! Like JohnV my replaygained MPC files are now softer than my mp3gained mp3 files.

To fix this, I would have to go back and run all my mp3 files through mp3gain with something less than the 89dB setting.

Frank, you need to give the user more flexiblity than the new Winamp plugin allows - what was wrong with the previous version - it worked great in this respect. Perhaps you are not concerned with users with multiple file formats, but I would suggest that many computer music compiliations consist of 2 or 3 file formats including MPC.

Try this link: http://www.uni-jena.de/~pfk/mpp/#winamp-binaries for the latest plugin.

Thx, but i figured it out by now, LOL... it wasn't the first time i browsed through Frank's whole site, you know wink.gif

It was just a hidden suggestion that he should keep that link up-to-date :naughty:

One thing I do not understand from the announcement of new versions: what exactly is meant with 'if needed mppdec can be added by a check feature for this problem for testing existing files.'? Does this mean that the feature to check if mpc files are encoded ok is already present in mppdec, or that such a feature will be added in a future version?
