A new firmware for the LTR-52327S has been released. Proper write strategies for some new media have been implemented. Updating is strongly recommended (burners are not a case of "if it works, don't fix it"!).

I just updated myself, flashing takes about 15 seconds.

:'( No more updates for LTR-52246S... :'(

I just bought one of these drives (my first lite-on), and I must say i'm extremely pleased with it. I always look fondly of companies that release regular updates (e.g. nVidia, Lite-on).

Thanks for the update. smile.gif

Agreed, LiteOns perform superbly, although my new 5-day-old 52327S is my third LiteOn CD rewriter. They simply like to fail sometimes dry.gif

I have this drive - but its mounted in an external OXF-911 based firewire enclosure.
Anyone know if its safe to flash the firmware like this ? Or must I hook it up to an IDE channel first ?

Sorry for this thread resurrection, there is no new firmware at the time, sorry. tongue.gif

This is only to ask if anybody knows of any mirrors for the Lite-On's firmwares, since I have just installed my brand-new LiteOn 52327S drive (yippie! wub.gif) but have sadly realized that the LiteOn website from Taiwan is down and can't download any firmwares. Alternatively if you have the update lying around on your computer and would be willing to send it to me, please PM me (unless doing so is somehow illegal and against the forum rules, in which case I ask the moderation to kindly delete the post).
Thank you!

You'll find it at The Firmware Page. smile.gif

Oops... sad.gif I didn't notice that before... Sorry. sad.gif

I found this mirror with the latest LTR-52327S firmware to date: R52QS0C.zip

I obviously can't do a CRC check against the official source, but the file seems to be legit.

I downloaded this from the official Lite-On site when it came out, the CRC matches.

The cdrinfo.pl is a reliable source, if you ask me.

Apart from that, there's a site with binary firmwares, to treat with MTKflash or similar tools. You have to google for it yourself.

Which is the last firmware actually, F?
gwaihir
I think C is the official latest firmware. Or is there a new version released?
Sebastian Mares
Oh, sorry, I didn't make myself clear enough...

What happens when the firmware version reaches F (like it did for LTR-52246S)? Will LITE-ON stop developing firmwares for that device?

Don't treat it as a hex value.

LiteOn drives have firmware revisions like FS0G or JK0M as well.

Most of the LiteOn firmwares change logs look like 'added support for new media'. And as all the big manufacturers are switching to DVD discs --- updating the CD-RW drives' media databases will sooner or later stop. In conclusion --- I wouldn't suspect more than 2 or 3 more revisions anyway...
