I have been told the next version of the 3ivX demuxer will have much more accurate seeking (if that's what you were asking)

Last time I tried this problem was still present.

I think Matroska is the the best option for now (And I think it has a lot advantage compares to mp4 container.)

@ rjamorim - yes, that exactly what I meant. Thanks biggrin.gif

@ StoneRoses - yes, I currently use matroska, but dont think it can handle HE-AAC files like the mp4 container can sad.gif

If the .mp4 format would finally get some support, especially by the MPEG4-DVD-players which have .mp4 logos all over them but won't support the particular .mp4 container format (or AAC audio), things would look a lot brighter for that format...

The .mp4 players don't need to support the .mp4 format, do they? They support .mp4 in spirit, but who needs .mp4 container or AAC audio anyway? The player can be perfectly .mp4 compatible without supporting .mp4, can't it?

Sorry. I'm just sick and tired of the lies and nonsense currently perpetrated by the MPEG4-DVD-player manufacturers.

JEN,

Matroska handles AAC-HE fine. I used mkvmerge + GUI for muxing DivX/XviD + AAC auido. If your AAC-HE is in mp4 containers it will detect the AAC profile automatically. But if you use plain AAC-HE ( .aac) you must explicitly tell mkvmerge that your aac file is using HE profile.

Matroska has been able to handle HE-AAC quite a while now, I think since mkvtoolnix 0.7.0. The mkvmerge program has an option to specify whether the .aac file is HE or not. All you need is a HE-AAC cabable DirectShow decoder, such as CoreAAC.

I just tried it a minute ago, I created a HE-AAC file in Nero and muxed it into a .mka file with mmg.exe. CoreAAC reports a "Reserved" profile, but does show 22050 -> 44100 for sampling rate. So I reckon it works.

Edit:

StoneRoses beat me to it smile.gif

Cool biggrin.gif

Can't wait to try it out

Sync with MP4 container and AAC works fine here with the 3ivx 4.1alpha22 MP4 splitter.

I formatted my computer and have lost all my matroska stuff. Where do I get matroska (as I cant remember which things I need) + where do I get the gui from ???

mkvmerge and the gui http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolni...c/mkvmerge.html and matroskasplitter http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/ and of course you know where to find the aac directshow at rarewares, smile.gif
