"Signatures may not link to offensive sites or have offensive content."

Please clarify on what is offensive and what not.

I often like to put a movie quote in my signature and sometimes they contain offensive language. The name obviously implies offensiveness, but maybe a certain level is tolerable, hence my asking.

Example: "Whatever you do, don't fall down. That would break my fucking heart!" - Gunnery Sergeant Hartman [Full Metal Jacket]

Would this still be acceptable? If it isn't, please tell me now and I will refrain from using "strong language" in my sigs in future. I also understand that presenting movie quotes ripped out of context to people who haven't actually seen the movie can be a little problematic, but hey, it's just a signature after all. smile.gif

I would say then that your movie line is OK. It contains an expletive, but is not obscene within the context of the sentence.

Looked at another way, if Full Metal Jacket had contained anything "obscene" in the legal sense, then the MPAA would have rated the movie "X" rather than "R".
