thats not a good idea, you need just one logo. (iam in promotion bussines for few years now, so trust me on that one...), edit3: if you want variation, do so after the logo is selected, like logo + different context. (where logo = design of the letters.), that could be called logo++ competition .

This looks like a top contender to me.

I have another idea for the whole competition. What if the HA staff select a Top 10 (or Top 8, Top 5) towards the end of the month, and then we make a public vote where all HA users can pick their favorite of those.

I think that's a great idea! It'll address two problems...

-1- There seem to be too many submissions for the staff to simply pick just one out of all of them.

-2- It will give members a pared down list to vote from, rather than trying to keep up with the dozens of new submissions that come each day, which is getting a bit overwhelming in just the first week.


Oh, and IPB polls seem to support up to exactly ten options for easy voting among a top ten...how convenient!

His logo is actually not bad at all, considering it weighs less than 2k

the minimum size for my logos (all variants, non animated) at 400x80 are about 11kb when saved as png-8 with 128 Color palette). the posted ones are all png-24.

2kb file size is hip, the more color information per pixels the larger the file obviously. SK1, how does it look without the ear and eliminating the top left/right border oszillos? maybe you can get it down to 1kb even!

I use photoshop. I used fireworks a year or so about 7 years ago mainly for creating animated text effects. Adobe Image Ready made Fireworks superfluous for me.

13 075 bytes crunched, could probably go even lower if I ditch the color-slides and anti-aliasings.

If you have the time, I'd really love to see a combination of these two. Could you do one with the words from the first, the "cut outs" (person, headphones, waveform) from the second one, but cut out of the more rounded polished looking circles of the first.

Umm... a simpley way to say that would be just use the symbols from the second one instead of the logos of the first.

That would really appeal to me at least.

Don't know if this has been suggested (I'm not going through all these posts), but how about an option to display a diffrent logo everytime you visit the site or everytime a page refreshes. That way you don't have to choose between all these cool logos .

No, nothing has been decided yet. One idea is to have a couple of logos and change it every few months. The idea i favor is to have one logo, which would be chosen via vote from the Top 10 logo list that the HA staff would compile. A different logo everytime the page is refreshed is pretty much out of question, i think.

- HydrogenAudio should be an option, depending on the logo it could be the most readable

- That tag line is really too long for the purpose and a little awkward, you might consider
