I like this one. It could use a bit more space between the letters, though, especially in the lower part
I like the way the site's name is on this one. I relly think the two words should somehow be seperated, a colon or maybe the pipe "|"
QUOTE(rc55 @ Nov 6 2003, 12:18 AM)
hydrogenaudio doesn't really work as a word! I think the two seperate sound better.
I defined this a bit:
Logo text: Hydrogenaudio , hydrogenaudio or HYDROGENAUDIO (not Hydrogen Audio). This is because we want to stabilize higher search engine relevance in the name, and define the exact form how the site should be called.
Dibrom thinks that using HydrogenAudio still leads to confusion where people write the name separately and thus decrease search engine relevance.
QUOTE(Dibrom)
The image is perhaps a bit too tall though, especially for people running lower resolutions. Might have to get rid of the bottom reflection thing or figure out something else for that to make it fit better.
Unfortunately, the bottom reflection gives most of the illusion of the top part being "shiny" (to my eyes). Without it, I think it will look like flat colors.
QUOTE(/\/ephaestous @ Nov 6 2003, 01:39 AM)
I think there's a problem with armeck's logo.
IE doesn't support the alpha channel, so everything is rendered against a gray background.
Also I think the logo should be a 256 colours image, because an alpha blended 24bit PNG takes a hell more bandwidth/time for 56k users.
Nevertheless, Great work!!
The final logo doesn't have to be PNG, it can be JPG as well. Only the submissions should be PNG. I wouldn't go for 256 colors at least at this point, and if there's a need for the final logo for 256 colors, we can do that ourselves.

You reduced colors? Please don't do that at this point.

I only reduced because I thought some were compalining about files sizes. I will post in pure, unoptimized PNG from now on.

Armeck, very nice logo. But at least take good looking Sennehisers

like the HD600 in the original logo. The previous ones you used look better than this.

I personally don't think it will look as good if the reflection effect is moved behind the characters -- it'd kind of ruin the whole sort of shiny/3d effect. Iff armeck wants to give it a shot though, he can.
I am looking for some 600's here it is with 580's

BAH. The darn shadow and headphones don't line up, that's fixable though.

I agree. It's like the jewel on your computer, the text is inside the piece and a couple layers of clear sealant over it, the reflection would efinately be over the text.

Just for you:

I agree though about the Sony headphones, they just look better even if they aren't *better*
A small contribution to the board...
Maybe it brings you to any ideas - grtz

If there's going to be any subtle product pushing, choosing the better headphones may be more important than choosing the most aesthetically pleasing.

Keep the target audience in mind: I'd guess that audiophiles are drawn to function over form.

really like this one. Very nice, tumu! My only recommendation would be making the "hydrogenaudio" text more prominent. Larger and heavier, or perhaps riding the text along a curve.
@ Armeck: What about some Stax Omega II Headphones, e.g. these (remove the cable):

I don't know about you guys but I'm looking at a site with a white/light blue theme and having the name hydrogenaudio.
I'm thinking blue, hydro(gen), I'm thinking waterish, I'm thinking drop(s), I'm thinking clear water, blue sea, I'm thinking forest lake calm reflections, I'm thinking swishyness, waves, Artic sea, I'm thinking icelandic, I'm thinking slight breezyness and ripples ... I'm thinking hot springs and pink champagne, I'm thinking Liv Tyler, Cameron Diaz and bikinis, breezyness and nipples ... ... erm... uhmm...
...
[But the first part of my suggestions is meant seriously. Some king of watery addition might be an idea.]

Also think the one by Tumu is the best one so far. Forgive me Tumu for modifying it a little

. I felt it was a little too tall and too 'loose'. But my edit is not as homogeneous as the original

Um, it's made bu tumu you know
i wont take part in the elaborate discussion on headphones... instead i'll just support tumu for his promising logo... [still need to work out your caption positions]
I changed the title a bit, it's better than the original but could be better.. Have to see if I can whip up something nice for the descriptive one too as I don't want to add too much "artistic impression" on the texts. :)

I'll be heading into bed, so you'll have to wait for next one for few hours.. :)

Bah, lots of good entries before I even get a chance. I like Armeck's (the original with the shinyness on top of the letters). Also, everybody knows it'd look best with Grados!

So far that's my favorite too, and even more so if only he'd show the fullcolor version of that and not that reduced color palette.
@ armeck: Could you try
these HD 600s ? B) Or some nice Grados ? IMO both look outstanding.

Apart from that, your logos are awesome.

@ tigre: Those Omegas look great.
Tally up another vote for armeck's Sony version with the wave on top of the letters.
Hey, guys thanks for all the compliments! I have to say though, the HD 600s may be kick ass headphones but the Sony's do *look* better. I have the high color versions at my other PC (work) and wont be able to post it until tomorrow (its 10:00 PM right now).
Now, I have posted a dozen different versions, so lets be clear which you have liked: the smaller, no reflection, with the Sony headphones, but in full color glory, right?

Well, yes.

It's the best so far, IMO. As for the Sony's looks, I'd rather prefer something less shiny and colorful, but that's just me, I guess.

Your logo is very nice, nevertheless.

V-700
I have an idea. If you give me till tomorrow (I have all the original files at work) I will go thru and make several with the different headphones and see what looks good, ok? I understand the philosophy of keeping it high end to reflect that attitude about the site, the logo should say a lot about the site.
Again, thanks so much for the compliments.
