Full Version: Flac in ogg container. chaining?
Hydrogenaudio Forums > Lossless Audio Compression > FLAC

Flac has the option to use the --ogg switch which will put the flac inside a ogg container.
I know ogg vorbis files can be chained so you will end up with one ogg file which will contain all track information supported by fb2k. Now i tried to do the same thing with 2 flac files in ogg but it doesn't work in fb2k. Is what i am trying impossible? or is it the problem of fb2k?

nrg.

It's possible and it works in foobar2000. Just make sure to use different serial numbers for the OggFLAC files.

Thx for your reply Case. And it worked except for one thing.
I can't seem to add metadata to the tracks like i do with ogg vorbis.
Am i doing something wrong again?

You're not doing anything wrong - it's just not yet supported by libflac.

I added OggFLAC tagging to foo_flac. Would be nice if you could test it.

Yes it works. When i edit it seems like its rechained because i see a lot of harddisk activity. Now that its possible to change the metadata is it also possible to add seekpoints to the file?
nrg
Hmm I just tried to play a normal flac file and that doesnt seem to work anymore with this new plugin.

I don't get the idea of seekpoints in FLAC, the seeking is fast enough without them. But your request is not probably even possible at the moment, since flac.exe doesn't support them I suspect there isn't defined storage place for them yet. Lack of seeking in Oggs is not caused by missing seekpoints but lack of support for it in the libraries.

This doesn't make sense. I only changed the function that deals with tag writing into OggFLAC files. FLACs work fine here.

Could it be that your new flac dll is also in the new foobar2000?
I can't seem to play flac files anymore with embedded cue files.
To be sure i just created a new flac with embedded cue and it didnt play on fb2k 0.7.3a.
I've reverted back to fb2k 0.7.1 and it works again.
