I like this software very much. It has all the features I ever wanted in an MP3 organizing program but it costs money-a lot of it considering the actual application of the software. I can live without it-all I need to do is organize my music well. That's why I don't like it. On the other hand, there is another software called "MPEG Audio Collection" on sourceforge.net. It does most of what this software does and is free!! Maybe we should encourage the deveopers of this freeware. Thanks.

@wizetech: Can Advanced MP3 Catalog handle file formats other than MP3? I read your program info webpage, but didn't see a reference to anything other than "MP3".

I'm always on the lookout for a better library program, but 95% of my music is encoded in Ogg Vorbis and 5% is in FLAC.

We're working on it. New version of the program will support these formats:
=======
AAC .aac; .m4a; .mp4; .m4p
FLAC *.flac, *.fla
Monkey .mac, .ape
MPEG .mp3, .wav, .mp2
MPEG+ .mpc, .mp+
OGG Vorbis .ogg
TvinVQ .vqf
WAV .wav
WMA .wma, .asf
=======

I see a lot of products on the market, like MusicMatch, iTunes and so on, but all of them can't handle a lot of of files. And they doesn't have special features to work with removable disks like CDs/DVDs. I think the new product will meet a lack.

How many MP3s (CDs and files) did you test with?

If it's a bug in MPEG Audio Collection I would like to know about it and fix it wink.gif

It will, indeed. MP3 is undoubtedly the most popular format, so us Vorbis and FLAC users have to search harder for products that support our music libraries.

I look forward to your next release!

Then main problem occurs when I try to open folder with many files (>1000). It hangs my computer for some seconds.

"hangs my computer for some seconds" != "can't handle a huge mp3 collection"

You aren't true.
"hangs my computer for some seconds" = "can't handle a huge mp3 collection"

In handling collection I included working with it.
For example, MusicMatch can also scan and keep in base many file. But try to work with them laugh.gif You'll need some minutes to find any file in it.

I don't like to wait more than 5 secs. each time when I switch folders!

Please don't spread BS. I have a collection which includes 400GB of files and it works OK.

See above.

wizetech: You mean when you have >1000 files in a single folder in the collection?

It should take a few seconds to update the window, but not several minutes.

I've tested with 4096 files in a single folder; it took 3 seconds to update the window. But I have a P4 2.4 Ghz so it will take longer on slower computers.

this is used for marketing!

the freeware mentioned above CAN handle! and it IS BS when you tell it cannot handle. YOU cannot handle to wait 5 seconds.... and i wont ask you how your software loads a collection like mine with 240 GB, or the mentioned one with 400 GB...without accessing the Harddisk. My Harddisks have access times of 150 MB per seconds. and i got 2 raid's a 80x2.

If you like to sell your Soft then go get some banners on sites like MSN where you may irritate some dumb users. If you try here you will just reach, that no one of us will buy your soft.

ah and btw... my files are 100% OGG GT3 or MPC made by friends. get your software to where MPEG Audio Collection IS...and then well see about the handling of your software. ill check if <5 seconds access is true.

actually this program has killed my beloved mpeg audio collection because it can update detail folders...... and fast volume update function....working with foobar....MAC is totally dead !

PS: plus it can be minimize to system tray biggrin.gif
mj-barton
Not to sound pathetic or anything of that sort. iTunes does an effect job logging and automatic organizing the collection. I've got 1400 files and there isn't a problem. As a plus its free. The main that I use it is becuase I own an iPod.

Just trying to contribute.

Mac is the second best for me

I said AMC is the best because it can update detail folders! and quick update volume....

Mac is kinda slower...no update function for folders....but AMC blows @ reporting...MAC's report function is much better....

If mac could update detail folder...I would choose MAC instead of AMC rolleyes.gif

PS: I have about 30,000 songs and MAC working just fine !
