Full Version: Problem with sorting in Winamp 2x

I'm having a problem with the way winamp sorts my music

for example...

In my folders i have these albums (In folders) with this naming format
"
Summer Getaway 2003 (8-9-2003, Jones Beach Theater, Wantagh, NY) (Disc 4)
Summer Getaway 2003 (8-10-2003, Jones Beach Theater, Wantagh, NY) (Disc 1)
"

So when i plug these in and sort by path and file name, i'd assume that the songs would be in that order (date order), however, they are sorted like this...

"
Dead, The - Summer Getaway 2003 (8-10-2003, Jones Beach Theater, Wantagh, NY) (Disc 1) - 07 - Brokedown Palace (8-10-2003).flac
Dead, The - Summer Getaway 2003 (8-9-2003, Jones Beach Theater, Wantagh, NY) (Disc 4) - 07 - Ripple (8-9-2003).flac
"

I'm guessing that winamp (for some reason) thinks that "9" is bigger than "10". I was going to put a 0 in front of the 9 so it would know it's "09", but is their anyway to get winamp to comply with the date order without having to rename the files?

Thanks

That's pretty much it, I think. Winamp assumes 1, 10, 11, 12, 2, 3, etc.

Winamp is evil then!

(at least when it comes to sorting)

Thanks

I guess it is laugh.gif

but I think that's a problem of Windows in general, Explorer also believes that 9 is bigger than 10 unless you specify 09, 10, 11... Winamp is just using Window's sorting method i.e. look at the first digit , sort it, look at the second digit, sort it... since 2 > 1 , it assumes 1, 10, 11, ... 2, 20, 21 ... dry.gif
