Hello,

I have a few audio types of my grandfather and want to add them to a slide show I'm making. The problem is that there is alot of hissing, and clicks (pops). Is there a way to single out a certain noise, and remove it, so you are only left with the sound I want to hear?

Also some of the audio, is low, I think the mic might have been away from him, and it sounds distance, can I rasie the level, to hear it?

Please let me know what program to get, so I can make this happen, and I will get it. I dont care about the price, I just want to make this work.

Last thing, please email me with answer/idea's, its hard to check all these sites often.

Email: Scaned@aol.com

If this question does not belong here, please dont get mad. I'm just looking for help.

Thanks so mcuh for all the help

If the source is tape you'll need to cut the highs at, say, 7500Hz to get rid of some of the hiss. Then a round of compression should smoosh the dynamics so that the quiet parts are louder. To do any of this you'll need a wave editor like wavelab, cooledit or soundforge. There are many directx plugins that can do a good job. I'd suggest a parametric EQ for doing the high cut. That way you can play with it a little to get just what you want.

There are free wave editors like goldwave and audacity, so you may be able to process all your stuff for free. Also, with digital recording less is better than too much. Watch your levels.

Good luck.

Nero Wave Editor has fairly decent noise reduction and de-clicking functions.
