Hi!
Which soundcard can you recommend me for producing electronic music?
A keyboard need to be connected to the pc, too(midi).
It would be nice to get some hints what to look for and what details are important in this context of music making.
Price should not be much more than 150 $
Thanks!

Only one recommendation .... M-Audio Delta Audiophile 24/96 has everything you need on a quality level that allows little discussion only (if any) ... it features real MIDI-Connectors (can be connected to a keyboard without any adapter), coaxial SPDIF I/O, solid RCA connectors on the slot bracket and rock stable ASIO drivers with low latencies ... and it should be available for 150€/$

I second that.

All you need in high quality at a reasonable price.

I have been using this card for over a year now and am very happy, also with the occasional recording I'm using the card for.

If there's anything that annoyed me about the Audiophile 2496 then it was the lack of midi instruments on the card; some cheap cards offer that. But you'll probably be using VST instruments or samplers anyway, so you couldn't care less.

Thanks a lot for your hints.
So it will be a M-Audio Delta Audiophile 24/96 smile.gif
Found it for 159 €.

Well, you've got probably the best quality/buck card.. if you're looking for info on how to do everything else, a starting point might be Computer Music magazine/website.

British mag, covers that scene pretty well, have articles for beginners to advanced.. and a CD with loads of software, samples and stuff.. (lots is available on the net, of course) Good way to find out about gear, tecniques, and software..

If you are after an all round card and have a USB MIDI keyboard then the Revolution is also very good. Does not have as many pro features but has the same high quality audio and ASIO support. I use it for kicking some Cubase plugins around and it's great fun.

In Revolution, spdif output doesn't work with ASIO, with current drivers. Kernel streaming does, though.

If you are going to connect the soundcard to some pro equipment, then it's better that you get a more pro-oriented card, which can work with pro levels and balanced input and output. The Echo Mia (or MiaMidi if you want a built-in midi interface), is not much more expensive than the Audiophile, but has these features that the Audiophile lacks, and equal or better quality.
