I know on the iPod box it says it supports both, but which one works better? (does it make any difference in performance, etc.) thanx in advance

VBR should always be better then CBR all things equal

File size equal, you mean. smile.gif
That's the only possible thing that can be used as a basis of comparison between a CBR and a VBR file.

Maybe the question was whether there are any problems with either CBR or VBR on the iPod?
fileman
I didn't notice any problems with VBR and my IPod. Nearly all my MP3s are preset standard VBR files.

Regards, fileman.

I asked this question a while ago (wondered if the constantly changing bitrates could affect performance or battery life, etc.) and the answer seems to be no (answer I got and experience since). The bigger question is MP3 or AAC.
