The Link works for me but the program keeps crashing
wonder if it's the same old FhG AACdemo 3.0 they've used in the encoder tool, if so it's obsolete, cause the dolby version is better quality

LOL as soon as I installed it expired!
Can I get a workaround or maybe, eh a crack?

I managed to get work this one, and encoded some "WAV" songs at 48kbps, stereo, and listen them again QT6.4's 64kbps HQ Stereo setting.
Although I have done no ABX'ing or something like that to backup my observations from this quick test, I may say that I am impressed the low-bitrate quality especially =<64kbps.
It encodes, full length of video and audio, without any restriction. by the way the interested thing is, files played on the foobar, and foobar reports as AAC Main as profile, whereas user may only select from encoder "AAC Low Complexity" from Audio object type box.

The persistence of these programmers is hilarious!

Is there anyone who can provide some more informations about this codec ?
The lowpass at 128 Kbps is a bit lower than Dolby/QT. Maybe Fhg AACdemo?
Thanks in advance.
Hmm... they don't seem to make it easy to use this thing with any other program.

Strange no one has done any ABX testing yet

I didn't test the server/encoder yet, but the player is outrageous.
It's slow (not enough FPS decoding in a sample that decodes fine with ffdshow, QuickTime, mpeg4ip, Philips, Envivio and anything else except MPEGable)
It easily gets out of sync.
The interface is *ugly*
It's slow
It only supports Simple Profile, not even Advanced Simple Profile
No information about the stream besides bitrates
Try to close the player while a movie is playing...
Have I already mentioned it is slow?
I find it actually funny, FhG is limiting usage until december to avoid people using it beyond that date (they probably hope to make some profit out of it after that), but anyone on his right mind would go and download QuickTime, Envivio or 3ivX + ffdshow + CoreAAC for FREE soon after the first experience with their player.
(AFAIK) Both, the player and the encoder/server are just technology preview software. I doubt they plan to release those as real applications since they fall well beyond current standards.
On the side of compatibility, I tested their 3 "demo" video files (in the same page than the download), and the 3rd one (the biggest one) didn't play in QuickTime. It said the mpeg4 wasn't version 1 or 2, (and something more).
I haven't been able to play those with any other app. (How did you used ffdshow to see the video of an .mp4 file? do i miss an mp4 parser?)

I say that first impression counts, and for that, they did not do anything at all

Big mistake
