I think there's a promotional track bundled with WA.

innocent has different demo.mp3, noaod doesn't have AOL-on-desktop icon.

I dunno, Winamp seems to gradually be getting more commercialized, too. Will there be a version where we have to watch a mandatory ad for AOL before listening to music?

I'm sticking with v2.76, I don't see anything compelling in these new versions. An ogg plugin can be gotten from somewhere else.
Gabriel
Is in_wave still broken for some files?

In case you don't know yet, try playing t1.wav from the Lame testcases, and you'll see the problem.
Peter
floating-point wavs are finally working correctly now AFAIK, but i'll try
[edit] verified, works

Maybe it might become a bit bloated (I personally have next to no need for a minibrowser), but I don't consider it commercial. I don't see any ads, there's a pretty selective custom install option (with a nice opt-in instead of opt-out) and..erm.. no annoying logos all over the place. And all this for free. I feel pretty grateful myself and is pretty glad that the non-techies "out there" now can listen to Ogg files without any hassles. Now all we have to do is spread the word and trample upon the infidels who persists in using MP3 wink.gif

I see the opposite happening. I registered Winamp back before Nullsoft was aquired, and I still consider it the best $15 i ever spent. The release of little toys like AIMazing and Gnutella show that Justin Frankel is hardly "selling out". The Nullsoft team seems like a dedicated (and sometimes goofy) group of people that won't let the suits interfere with their fun... just look at their zany webpages! smile.gif

So erm... not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but why is 2.79 still the official download on the front of the Winamp website?

If I remember correctly, winamp.com is only updated once a week. With enough people watching download.nullsoft.com, new releases inevitably get posted on various forums before they're "officially" released.... biggrin.gif
