Full Version: Is it OK to post items for sale?
Hydrogenaudio Forums > CD-R and Audio Hardware > Audio Hardware

Just thought I'd post here before I put some stuff up on eBay. Most forums have a marketplace or something similar, but I don't recall ever seeing anything here. I'd rather make a deal selling to an HA member, and I think I'd feel more comfortable buying from a fellow member as well smile.gif

Sorry, but it it isn't OK.
Selling an item is not considered as a discussion about audio. We have no section for sales.
If you see someone in a discussion who searches something that you sell, you can send him a private message.

Thank you for asking before posting smile.gif

Maybe we should have a forum for selling audio related items.

my favorit forum www.dailyrush.dk has made one and personally i would rather sell to /buy from a fellow member than to a complete stranger.

i even posted some 4000DKR/ 650U$ to i guy, and then wating for him to send money back by bank transfer.
I trusted him because i trusted the memberhood.

Actually it would be audio related because it is Audio Gear smile.gif

sven_Bent made me realize that it might be difficult on this forum because I'd wager that at least half the people here are from Europe/Asia (if not more) as oposed to most other forums I visit wich are largely US/Canadian.

Might make shipping difficult/expensive.

I wonder if adding a for sale/WTB forum has ever been considered?

No problem Pio, I figured it was better to ask than make assumptions smile.gif

Maybe we should have a forum for selling audio related items.

I don't think we should, for these reasons:

(1) It would dilute the purpose of the board (as Pio2001 suggested).

(2) Even sales between private individuals can cause problems, and then the person who was ripped off goes screaming to the moderators and admin (believe me, I've seen it happen elsewhere).

(3) This forum is more international than a lot of others I've been on, and shipping between countries is expensive and often pointless.

(4) The risk of liability and other serious hassles to the admin and staff (see #2), including potential sales of ripped CD's or things of that nature...

No, no, no... terrible, awful idea. There are other forums like Head-Fi and Audiogon where anyone can join in 5 minutes and sell stuff... let's keep it far away from HA.

Personally I think that a section for buying/selling audio hardware has more place here than the video discussion forums that were added lately. Theres already doom9 for that. But then again you could say theres already eBay for buying & selling....

Just my $0.02.

Edit: I see theres an OT section now as well, so that pretty much makes 'dilution of the boards purpose' a void argument.
