Has anyone done some quality testing with the new Vorbis 1.0.1 encoder? Does it fix some of the problems encountered with the previous 1.0 encoder or are they too subtle to notice?

Considering it is a point release I seriously doubt anything major was fixed, but I guess you can always keep hope. I haven't heard much in regards to Vorbis in ages, guess they focusing on Theora at the moment... so I guess any news is good. Is there a changelog for this release? (john33 wink.gif )

Yeah just as I thought... nothing major just fixes and little creature comfort features. Well at least they still thinking about Vorbis... thats the good thing! Thanks cheerow.

I cannot talk about my own experiences, but someone here claims that there's been a significant noise reduction. I recommend some minor Germand knowledge. wink.gif

It fixes one bug, which was found by Guruboolez affecting low bitrate modes on very quiet signals. For archival bitrates (>160) GT3b1 is still recommended. Hopefully Garf will prepare a GT3final based on 1.0.1 soon, which will be - opposed to GT3b1 - safe to use at all bitrates.
