Somehow estimate how many active foobar2000 installations there exist in the world and publish the number on the home page.
While the number might seem useless at first, it can be very useful when contacting a hardware manufactur and asking for fb2k support.
While I am sure it is possible to get an IR remote and a Logitech keyboard to work with girder, it takes a lot of time and requires installation of another program. It would be so much easier if the hardware manufacturers implemented support in their drivers.
umm, no offense meant, but: No, thanks to usage statistics!
Also, i doubt that a hardware-manufacturer would implement stuff in their drivers, just because of some usage stats of an single audio-player - unless maybe, the player is winamp, and IMHO, thats not just because it has many users, but because it has been around for so long and "has a name".

Winamp not only "has a name," it is commercially owned by a really huge company.
That aside, Logitech keyboards suck, and so does iTouch. F-Lock my ass.
1. Logitech iTouch has support for several less-known players: Axialis, WillowPond, AudioStation, AtiMMC, Sonique, CinePlayer, etc. Naturally they want to support the players their users use -- otherwise the users will not buy more keyboard with even more buttons.
2. There are many things in this world that suck. That is hardly relevant here.
How about publishing number of downloads instead - or just an estimate?

Agreed. Logitech's F-Lock implementation = Hell On Earth. >_<

I agree that it might be nice if they expand their application, but we might as well ask them to stop making crappy hardware as well. They continue to design keyboards with the F-Lock feature, without at least configuring it to reset to on instead of off. They also managed to design a decent DualShock ripoff gamepad, but the digital pad is a piece of shit.
So... Logitech, add Foobar support and stop sucking so much.

Correction, I got hurt in my left thumb recently and I find logitech digital pad less painful to use than sony-style one (the one in cheap $10 digital-only PSX gamepad). But that's about only situation where their digital pads are good.

I will amend that by stating that the corded model has a decent digital pad, while the cordless version has a piece of shit digital pad.

If I send them a letter like that they WILL ignore me completely.
But if I send a letter like this:
"Dear Logitech. Please consider adding support for the audio player, foobar2000, www.foobar2000.com. It has been around for one year and it's user base has grown to approx. [insert hopefully large number here]..."
...they might just take me seriously...

edit: I didn't know foobar2000.com was valid, too. Sorry for lame bashing.
Well, write a plugin (foo_report_usage_stats, or whatever) and see just how many people will install it...
edit: Even better name: foo_spies_on_yuo

www.foobar2000.com
foobar2000.
orgUse the correct URL and we might just take you seriously.
And exactly what is your problem with
http://www.foobar2000.com ?
.com stands for commercial imho.
also, do you remember the time all the .com-companies died one after the other?
Could throw a bad light on foobar.
@sshd:
Just write: With an ever growing userbase thanks to its superior features and rapid developement it is on the best way to become the next-generation-audiosuite.
You don't need content if you can sell what you say (=nothing) good.
Just look at todays massmedia an politcs.

[edit]
Also you could refer to the pagehits the foobar homepage gets per date. Should be a relative big number.

Here, and we thought you were correcting him because you thought the .com domain was not registered.

It's an evil button that changes F1, F2,... to do other things after every reboot. You have to press it to get things back to normal.
I'm quite happy without iTouch after I got tired of this F-Lock among other things. I especially got tired of executing "undo" when i pressed F5 to "refresh".

For some reason, mine does not do that...
Microsoft's keyboards also have that F Lock button. It's the most evil thing ever added to keyboards (even more evil than Windows key that actually is quite handy sometimes). I just can't understand why it can't be toggled to be "on" automatically.

I'm tired of executing "New" when pressing alt-F4 to close something..
God I hate F Lock.
