Right OK would like to beg the team to sort out the streaming issues illustrated here:

7. Ian Betts Live on TranceAirWaves n/a n Betts Live on TranceAirWaves |> [] 0000?

Notice: the missing first 2 letters in title field, [] for "extension" and 0000?.... !??!?!

Know this can be changed with a playlist string, but wouldn't it be a MUCH better idea to have either a generic, powerful and reliable default rather than relying on hardcore users to code their own? OR, *listview* *cough*. tongue.gif

I know this playlist is kind of friendly with local music files, but when streaming music there's no denying that it royally falls over.

Not sure whether this is just a Shoutcast thing (works fine in W**amp) but the view file info box doesn't seem to include any info on the stream at all, which is a bit of a bummer.

You get the static metadata, but absolutely no info on dynamic metadata or anything.

Perhaps an upgrade of the HTTP reader in 0.7.5?

Thanks

These streams seem to work fine?

A small question regarding the streaming-plugin: Is it possible listen to wav or aiff streams?.

Yes but notice the complete lack of codec info in the playlist.

[] 0000?

What's that meant to be? tongue.gif

Also - Unknown Artist and n/a for album... why not just "" (nothing)?

And the dynamic title problem still exists for all Shoutcast servers I think. SomaFM probably isn't Shoutcast powered tongue.gif

I think there are good reasons why codec info isn't displayed when playing back data from streaming urls (note that those do not have an inherent codec type), but I don't feel like delving into that. Would be a good dose of speculation anyway.

0000? looks like a question mark padded with zeroes to a total length of 5 characters. And what does it look like to you?

Stream length is unknown, hence the reported playing time is ? like in "unknown".

If you don't like the way it is displayed at the moment, change it in the Playlist tab on Preferences --> Display --> Title formatting

Because the default title formatting uses these settings. Makes some sense since files are often only partially tagged. If you want nothing, feel free to change your title formatting settings. Playlist tab on Preferences --> Display --> Title formatting

Dynamic title display works for me on those TranceAirWaves streams.

Preferences --> Display: make sure that "Show dynamic info.." is checked.
Preferences --> Components --> HTTP Reader: make sure that "Enable dynamic track titles" is checked.

btw, SomaFM is SHOUTcast powered. "Server: SHOUTcast Distributed Network Audio Server/SolarisSparc v1.9.2" looks like SHOUTcast to me.

Next time please take a couple minutes to come up with a more meaningful thread title. dry.gif

Thanks for that info.

AIFF and WAV inputs could be modified to support http streaming, but these formats aren't really designed for it.

I've got dynamic info checkmarked, but when I listen to music off a particular site (Proton Radio) it just displays the file name of the playlist rather than the actual information of what's playing. I think this is because my formatting string is set to only display the filenames of files in the playlist. I looked in the help under title formatting but couldn't see a specific tag for streaming information, is there any bit of code I can add so that specific information from a stream is displayed (i.e. what show is playing) instead of just the playlist? Thank you.

Well, the problem is that if there is a title but no artist. Then you get the first two letters of the title clipped off.

I made a little formatting string with a workaround. Look at
