Hmmm. $15.00 for a plugin that mimicks many of the free ones. Think I'll pass.

Just out of curiousity, what is a 'Relaxation Helper'? Big bag of weed, or a coupon for that jug of Booker T bourbon I've had my eye on? blink.gif

Very good that you have found free plugins of the same kind and quality.

None of above.

Probably that was generally a bad idea to do any foobar2000 plugins at all. headbang.gif

well, as far as i can see, the above is indeed just a "collection" of filters, which are seperately also available for free.

The difference is just, that in this case, you have them all together with an easy-to-use-interface. The difference is that this plugin is more convenient and easy-to-use for less knowledgeable people.

So, it comes down to that you aren't paying for the DSPs, but for the "ease of use".

my 2 cents,

Not necessarily, but you'll most likely find out that most here use minimal DSP's anyway.

Well, anyway, a guy requested these plugins, and it really didn't take long to port it to foobar.

Of course, I spent some efforts to make it look&feel good, as well as sound good.

I'll see what other players will bring.

Oh my, did someone touch a sore spot here? laugh.gif jk

Now what is this "relaxation helper"?
tigre
Seems like relaxation helper = brainwave inductor. A similar (named) DSP is available in CoolEditPro/Audition. This information can be found easily browsing the links gjohng provided.

MachineHead, maybe my English skills are not good enough for this, but to me the two alternatives you offer as answer to your question sound like you assume 'Relaxation Helper' is a bad thing for some reason. Could you please explain?

And the others I mentioned wouldn't provide this?

Relax, I was being a bit smarmy. Does noone have a sense of humor?

The installer copies the component as dsp_oss3ddsp.dll, but the player doesn't load it unless I rename it to foo_*.

EDIT: Oops, didn't notice the tray icon.

gyohng, that's sweet plugin! of course there could be free plugins for similar things and all that, but that's like with almost everything wink.gif.

you have it all in one nice and working package plus you offer support and all that stuff.

doing commercial plugin for foobar doesn't have to be bad thing, it's just that most users here are more advanced and know something about sound processing etc, that's all ...

anyway, few things that could help with the gui etc.

- give us pop up menu on the tray icon with all the presets for quick changing
- give us way to disable / enable it using tray icon - probably left click (not a doubleclick) or middle mouse button click
- one special feature for foobar users ... look for custom, definable tag which would contain preset name to use with that track. this would be foobar-plugin side thing possibly with config page to specify the name of tag etc. you could give us one checkbox in the main gui to enable that feature

Thanks for noting, I have fixed the installer bug now.

This is what happens when one man is responsible for everything smile.gif I have drawn grafix for the plugin (incl 3d pictures), I have designed custom controls, I have made the code, I have made the manual, I built up the site (and the engine for the site), I do the techsupport, etc...

I should stop wanking and find a better job.

Thanks smile.gif Still, I'm highly sceptic about commercial success of this plugin.

Well, yes... I'm doing pro instruments/fx, also I'm a musician myself (doing music, singing).

Any "specific" tags will be a problem, since most of players do not support this, and currently it would be a real hack to integrate.

Tray icon is not meant to control just this plugin. For example, if you run multiple players at once and multiple OSPI plugins at once, you will be able to control them all via single icon (it's not about adding zillions of icons to tray). Actually, icon is provided with separate icon app (ospitray.exe).

Well - it's a compromise anyway smile.gif each player is completely different, so I had to find a solution to support them all in a neat way.

It's great that you like the plugin anyway.

one man show? i wouldn't have guts for that, it's a lot of work.

which programming language have you used for the gui?

C++, Visual C++ v7 compiler, ATL/WTL library, custom controls.

For a consistent gui, I had to fix tons of problems such as this:

I did all my best this time. It will be sad if I don't get even a bit of what I expected, probably it's because I'm a total marketing dummy...

Can we use this thread to bitch at your plugin / ospi tray stuff?

If so: when the config dialog for a plugin is already open but buried below a couple other windows, activating it again through the ospi tray icon does NOT bring the config dialog back to the top (while it should, imo)

Yes, that's correct. You can find it in the taskbar though. smile.gif

I'm going to fix this for the next version. Probably the simpliest workaround will be to make window appear always-on-top.

Apparently, this is not a major issue smile.gif

Right. Much simpler than using SetWindowPos to bring it to the foreground for example. rolleyes.gif

...especially when the window is modal and tray icon is shown within different application (to support multiple plugins from multiple applications within one icon). cool.gif

Actually, I'm going to redesign this completely for OSPI2, for now it's just a semaphore that is not checked when the window is shown.

OMG, does this have anything to do with VST & DirectX plugin support for fb2k? If so this is such an amazing news because there're zillions of professional plugins out there. There's no need to reinvent the wheel by coding each one of them, all I need is a wrapper.

Sorry I don't care about this particular plugin although I am sure it's good and I appreciate your work. But if you can make use of OSPI to use DirectX and VST plugins in Foobar that'd solve some problem we've long been seeking solution for:
